Wedge Anchors?

Any preference in wedge anchor brand? Interested in installation reliability.
Looking at Hilti, RedHead and Simpson.

I doubt that you could go wrong with any brand name. We used many hundreds of Hilti at work over the years and never an issue. Whenever we had a robot "crash", they would pull the anchor up with a big concrete "cone" attached to it and not break the anchor.

Yeah, any name brand should be fine. In my trade, we install thousands, mostly Hilti, so that is what I prefer. I just recently needed some long ones for my 4 post lift and I found them on ebay. Hilti store will make you go broke! LOL

In ironwork we have to have some anchors that we can remove. We have had good results with 3/4 inch concrete screw/bolts from Simpson and Redhead.

If there is any possibility at all that you (or anyone you don't actively dislike) will be involved in removing the equipment in the future, drill deep enough that when the time comes, the nuts can come off and the anchors can be driven below flush with the concrete surface.

Does that require abandoning the hole after that?
Are they tricky to install? It seems like self taping in concrete must take some effort or a special tool.

No, my use is a one time installation as long as they hold. It's a steel handrail mounting to the face of a concrete wall. If I need the room to move something out just removing the nuts and the rail assembly will be enough.

For that application I would use a Simpson Titen concrete screw.
You drill the hole and drive them in with a impact driver.

The Simpson concrete screws (don't remember their trade name) are great I used them to fasten my paint shaker to the garage floor and they work great. You drive them in with an impact wrench.

Powers Wedgebolts were one of the early heavy duty concrete screws. They were our go-to back in the day, but I've used several different brands. They used to have proprietary bits for those that were like a purplish blue color. I've used SST, Tapcon HD and other versions too. They all work really well. Rotary hammer and impact wrench to install.

Thanks for the recommendations on the screws but if I ever need to temporarily remove the rail and brackets like I have in the past I need to be able to put it back without moving the brackets so it seems that wedge anchors with removable nuts are the best solution.
I am looking forward to trying the Titans, etc on other things not to be moved. I hang plenty of things on the basement walls and get tired of cheap plastic inserts.

Why not a threaded insert for that application?
