Just wondering if there are any cool ways to store a gas engine string trimmer (weed wacker) when not in use ? Let's see how you store yours.

Mine is battery powered, I have on of these racks in my garage, I put two heavy duty S hooks through the grid from the underside, and then used two of the 5" jumbo carabiner clamps to support the shaft. It's easy to access and is above my head and out of the way. Sorry, no pictures of it.

I fabricated mine out of some 1" square tubing.

And I painted them with the same Rustoleum Hammered paint.

This pic stolen off Pinterest who stole it from Family Handyman!

It's an electric whacker but I don't see why it couldn't work for a gas powered one. Easy peasy!

This is exactly what I used to do when I had a gas trimmer. Worked great, kept my chainsaw and oil/gas cans on the shelf.

After I switched to battery saws and trimmers I just hang them vertically on the wall now.

I have a hook in the bottom of one of the rafters and hang it by the handle. It hangs at ~20-30° angle but is still above head height.

Edit: just reread that you were asking about gas trimmers. Mine is electric.

Two spring clamps spaced so one is over the handle and one is over the end of the shaft. If they are both on the shaft it will spin upside down.

I pounded two 60d polebarn nails into a wall girt in the shed, it's been hanging on them for years...

My shed has exposed studs, I put a deck screw, a fender washer, a spacer to hold the fender washer away from the stud, and hang the trimmer from the metal guard:

Pretty much cost nothing using stuff I had.

Another thing I use are these HF hooks, but like everything else I modify them :wtf:
HFHook.jpg
Cut 'em up and use them as singles
HFSingle.jpg
Cut 'em up and tack weld the 2 hooks together for 4 screws same stud mounting.
You could use a hose clamp if you don't have a welder :(

HF hooks are $0.99 with a coupon, so $0.49 for singles when cut in half.
I bought some bulk black plastic end caps on Amazon, way cheaper than onesies/twosies at the hardware store.
Sorry for the drift,
:bounce:

I store mine horizontally on the rafter ties in a small shed where I store most of the seasonal equipment.

2 large bicycle hooks screwed into the shed rafters 4' apart. Out of the way and doesnt take up precious wall space.

I remove the attachment from my Troy-Bilt 4-stroke trimmer and set the power head horizontally on top of some cabinets I have in the shed. This avoids fuel leaks and oil leaks.

I hang the attachments on a double hook like others have shown, though I do really like the hanger cap option that someone else posted above...

I made my own mount for mine. I have the MLOK setup so it just needed to hold the string trimmer attachment.

A garbage can?

Used mine twice now this season, starts and runs fine, then I turn it off. If I try to start it again, it quickly floods, with fuel dripping out the back of it. I'm almost at the point of giving up and going electric.

I went low buck.

$.98 at the hardware store. The "Tee" handle on the powerhead of my Echo SRM-210 fits in it perfectly.

I use a Gladiator slat wall and hook. My Sears trimmer is 20 years old though and leaks a bit periodically. At some point soon I’ll switch to the Stihl battery powered version.

My Ryobi electric weed eater has this handy little hook built into it.

So I bent two long peg hooks, to cris-cross each other & hang it here. Works great.

Mine hang by the "D" handles in a closet under the stairs that go from the garage up to the house. That is also where the leaf blowers and chain saws reside.

X2. Found one that was a little bit larger, than the one pictured. Hangs my echo right inside the door of the shed so it's always easy to get at.
