I have a 2 y/o Ryobi weed wacker. It wasn't priming.. ordered new carb fuel lines and plug. Installed all and still having a no priming issue. Any ideas before it goes to service center?

I had one where the fuel feed line inside the gas tank got stiff and broke off. It's a plastic tube with a weight on the end that is supposed to sink to the bottom of the tank no matter what the orientation. You might check that

Make sure the weighted filter isn't hanging up and not making it to the bottom of the tank. Check that you didn't get the lines messed up, that the fuel is going to the fuel port on the carb and not the over flow.

Throw it out and either

1. Buy a new Stihl gas powered

2. Buy a new Stihl battery powered

Most weed eaters are throw away. If they start and run for 3 years your doing good. I quit working on those junk things years ago. I bought myself an electric one a couple years ago and it works EVERY time i plug it in.

Did you replace the lines for the primer bulb as well and the ones going to the carb. If there is the slightest bit of air sucking, the bulb won’t prime.

I have a few Stihl products that the bulbs were rotten on while asking my FIL if he had any he asked why, and said you don't need it, 15 years later I don't prime anything. Choke, pull it and it'll fire

Which model did you get? I have the XRU08z and XRU13z. Same trimmer but differ in the arbor size and rotation direction. They've been great.
I ordered the kit with the XRU23z, this one: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Makita-...Cordless-Combo-Kit-2-Piece-XT287SM1/314835763

The XRU23 shows as 2 pounds lighter than the XRU12, not sure what accounts for that difference, but that was significant enough to sway me. The XRU12 does have 3 speed ranges vs. 2, a reversing function, and the shaft splits in two for transport. But not worth the extra 2 pounds to me.

Nice. That seems like a good deal. Look forward to hearing how you like it. I'm not looking for another trimmer but we've thought about picking up a second blower to go with our X2. I'm sure the 18V would be sufficient.

Make sure the fuel filter is oriented correctly. Fuel only flows one direction with most filters.

Between **** gas and gas soluble/hardened lines & primers I’ve resorted to just having a small squeeze Oiler bottle of gas. Squirt and go. Fed up w/ wrong fix for wrong gas by design.

I picked up the combo today, tried it out. I'm really surprised at the amount of power; I did some trimming along a fence, also knocked down some tall grass, about a foot and a half high, no problem. The trimmer is quiet, light weight and powerful.

The blower, although it's light, is much more powerful than I would have thought. I used it to blow some of the grass off the concrete, after trimming. Anything within 8 to 10 feet just goes flying. I don't think I'll be using my push broom much anymore.

And no more wondering if the trimmer's going to start, or if it'll keep running, or fuel running down my arm, or mixing, or the noise and smell.

Silly question, but have you made sure that the fuel and return lines are on the proper spots on the carb? Will not prime if trying to **** air from short, non-submerged return line.

I was skeptical about electric to replace my 30 year old Stihl FS74 which still runs great. Snagged a Dewalt on a deal at Xmas time and i'll never go back...i get a solid 45 minutes of use on a 5AH battery.
