I have a 2 y/o Ryobi weed wacker. It wasn't priming.. ordered new carb fuel lines and plug. Installed all and still having a no priming issue. Any ideas before it goes to service center?
New fuel lines & new fuel filter were installedYou did use fresh gas right? And nothing is blocking the fuel is it?
New fuel line and new filter installed at the same time...Something is blocking the fuel from the tank to the primer and carb. Check that first.
It came on the new carbDid you replace the priming bubble. I do that annually.
Really good advice.Throw it out and either
1. Buy a new Stihl gas powered
2. Buy a new Stihl battery powered
really easy to do, done it myself a few times...Make sure the weighted filter isn't hanging up and not making it to the bottom of the tank. Check that you didn't get the lines messed up, that the fuel is going to the fuel port on the carb and not the over flow.
Yep - I'm about to toss my 2nd gas powered weed eater and go cordless. This guys got the right plan of attack...
I ordered the 18V Makita, along with the blower, battery and charger - I'll pick them up at HD in a few hours. My wife is quite pleased with her 36V Makita trimmer.

I ordered the kit with the XRU23z, this one: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Makita-...Cordless-Combo-Kit-2-Piece-XT287SM1/314835763Which model did you get? I have the XRU08z and XRU13z. Same trimmer but differ in the arbor size and rotation direction. They've been great.

The XRU23 shows as 2 pounds lighter than the XRU12, not sure what accounts for that difference, but that was significant enough to sway me. The XRU12 does have 3 speed ranges vs. 2, a reversing function, and the shaft splits in two for transport. But not worth the extra 2 pounds to me.
I picked up the combo today, tried it out. I'm really surprised at the amount of power; I did some trimming along a fence, also knocked down some tall grass, about a foot and a half high, no problem. The trimmer is quiet, light weight and powerful.Nice. That seems like a good deal. Look forward to hearing how you like it. I'm not looking for another trimmer but we've thought about picking up a second blower to go with our X2. I'm sure the 18V would be sufficient.
