Weekend Engine Install, Vintage Equipment and more!

As I wrote in another psot, Mrs. E-tek took the kids to the in-laws farm, as is the norm on long-weekends, to leave me to my shop, cars and yard. In addition to getting the Galaxie out for a few great cruises and taking a load to the dump in the 46 Merc, I finally got the engine re-mated once again with it's body! Now that she's altogether and a whole-car again, it goes from a bunch of parts to a rod needing an appraisal and insurance! Also got my Sun equipemtn set up, did some yard work and watched the contactor work on the kitchen for a while. My idea of the "perfect" long weekend!

Here's a shot of my new sliding jack. What a godsend of an accessory!! If you have a four-post without, you owe it to yourself to check one out. Makes the lift everything it should be!! Thanks Jeff & Bendpak!!!

The SUN vintage Testing Equipment was shipped from Vancouver last weekend. Cleaned it up a bit and parked it for now. I'll give it a go-through before making use of it to tune the Challenger!! (Goodfellow, I'll PM you with some questions soon if that's OK!)

It's been a big week. The guys got a lot done on the kitchen/main floor reno too. I'll put that in a seperate thread so as not to overload anyone.

Also, I can't believe you went almost a year without an RJ45. What took you so long? I actually ordered mine with the lift and can't even imagine having an HD-9 without one. I use it as much as I use the lift itself.

I must have missed it, what ever happened with the Merc hemoraging it's radiator into the oil pan?? Did you find a solution??

lookin good... i had a great weekend too..... took the 5th wheel camping for three days, found a great place only about 30 minutes away. done a little bicycling and panning for gold.....

Oh ya - it was a torn head gasket. Replaced it and now it's all good.

Thanks - I know a lot of people don't, but that's one thing I'm getting my money's worth out of! It's awesome after a long day....matter o'fact I'm looking forward to a soak right now!

All I managed to get through over the weekend (even though I extended it through Friday and Monday) was assembling a swing set for the now-4-year-old and hosting a birthday party for him. Somehow, I'm OK with that.

Mopar's lookin' good E. Kind of OT but what's the height of your shop? I'm trying to picture what a 4 post would look like in mine. I'm thinking there's been a few goose eggs when I see the foam tube on that cross beam.

I wonder if you can just drop the body over top of the assembled engine/******/k-frame assembly (like the factory did) using a 4 poster? I would like to try that one day as it beats going in from above and trying not to scratch the heck out of everything, slide in the headers, etc.

What is the ceiling height of your garage / shop - looks like about 9 feet, but maybe 10?? I've considered a 4 post lift like yours, but ceiling height for me is 9 feet - hence my question after seeing your pics - (sorry, also don't want to hi-jack the thread)

I have a month off in July and will have it done then. There's lots of car shows end of July and August and I'd love to drive it to all of them (with the appropriate bubble wrap and tire-booties on of course!!)

It's 11'3". I can comfortably get under the car, but I do have to duck the ramps to get there. I had the Galaxie up there all winter and used the space under it for fabricating. Bumped my noggin twice before putting up the nerf!

I've seen them doing that more lately and will try it the next car I do. Of course it necessitates removing all the suspension components too, which I didn't do on the Challenger, but will do on the 71-240Z. As I said earlier, I like to do everything myself, by myself, so I took my time, used lots of towels and rags and squeezed 'er in real genteel-like

Does it look that small? It's really MUCH bigger than it looks!! (Sounds like a conversation I've had outside the shop.... )

e-tek, I show how I take the motor out the bottom on my crummy little site. It has a few tips that make it easier. Im a one man band too and I do it all alone.
