Thought I would share the weekends take since I enjoy seeing other's scores. Good weekend for tool hunting. Seems like a lot of people trying to squeeze the last of it in before winter hits. All at most 30 minutes from the house and either a family run estate sale or guys moving/downsizing and getting rid of extra's. Also got to love those sales that start at 8:00 am, usually seems to be more man stuff at the early starts.

First picture: Williams 3/4" breaker and 3/4" Ratchet plus the 1/4 drive snap-on ratchet plus the 3 Williams B-52's 3/8 drive ratchets, total cost $14. Strange finding so many B-52's since I have run across many of the 1/2 dr. S-52's but have had trouble finding B-52's, then 3 in one weekend

Second picture: Complete Craftsman Midget set in 9/32" drive. This is the "C" type ? whoever had it also purchased the Snap-On 9/32 drive ratchet to upgrade the set since I believe this set didn't come with a ratchet originally. Cost $10

Third and Fourth picture. Ridgid manual pipe threaders plus a Ridgid "Tri-stand" all for $12.

Seems like the fall is a good time for man stuff around here.

The pipe tools are for black piping. Some people use pvc for air, others use copper, and even crazier people use black pipe. The tripod and threaders are needed for many in HVAC, plumbing and the industrial trades. If you want to see an example of the black piping that the tools are made of look at your natural gas meter and pipes that surround it.

You did great on your buying. I got some of the same ridge pipe tools. I spent the night in Lockport, NY two weeks ago, looks like a fine little town to hang your hat, if you don't live in Dixie. Winters may be too cold for me.

Yeah, thanks! I normally wouldn't be too excited about buckets, except I need them for a fundraiser. I'm already on the hunt for this weekend. I found a cache of machinist tools in the desert.

What are the pipe tools typically used for?

The larger threader is a 65-R, ratcheting pipe threader, which can cut a worm on 1 thru 2'' pipe by adjusting the die head.
The smaller device is an 11-R ratchet, with a indeterminate size die in the head, which can be interchanged with individual die heads, 1/8'' to 1''.
The chain tri pod is used (obviously) for pipe work, or clamping whatever you're working on.The radii near the chain screw are for bending conduit.
There is an adjustable screw on the opposite side, with the handle underneath, which allows you to 'jam' the tripod against the ceiling, (with a length of pipe) stabilizing it.

I normally pass the pipe threading stuff by but noticed the orange paint indicating Ridgid. Noticed the prices, paid as quickly as possible and lets just say walked quickly to the car. :)

Glad you enjoyed your stay. Not a bad town. I don't mind the cold but the winter is at least a month too long. Great area for people who like the outdoors. In the winter all kinds of skiing, snowmobiling, hockey, ice fishing. Other seasons all kinds of hunting, fishing, boating, biking. If you need the "Really Big City" experience, Toronto is only about 2 hours up the QEW highway.

Have a good one guys
