Ever have one of those good weekends of finding stuff, then flipping one or of it to pay for it all and then

The finds

Only sold the small craftsman box with random tools and Wilton vise to pay for the rest

Nice haul. I have that same Craftsman roller. Maybe you made another collector‘s day. That complete metric Snap-On set with quick release rat is:drool: worthy.
Yeah when I came across that set I was almost giddy. I haven’t sold it yet but that should allow me to collect a few more useful things or at least pay for part of a new set of tires for my truck.

The Craftsman roller is beautiful. I've been after one of those forever. Excellent grab.
Same, I spent last night repeatedly cleaning it. I decided it’s too nice to stay my non temperature controlled Garage. I think it’s gonna stay in my house and still be used.

It helps when you live outside of Chicago and basically the Mecca of where a lot of tools were made or used.
Or any such Mecca in any older industrial state. Every year or so without fail someone will start a 'Flea Markets ****!' thread up on Free Parking or General and I just have to laugh and resist the urge to explain that it's a highly regional assessment to make. They are stronger than ever in many places around the country.

You know GJ has an annual Garage Sale Thread since 2012, right? The 2023 iteration is going strong. Check it out on the General Discussion forum.

Scores like yours from garage sales, estate sales, fleas, etc almost every day of the week for fellow pickers to share and offer honorifics for.

Nice haul!

How is your area holding up? I have found that Baltimore burbs and even some of the PA rural spots that I used to haul awesome stuff like this out of have started to dry up.

My local rural area is cleaned out as well. We've had explosive population growth and the land is just too valuable for a grimy flea market now.

It’s definitely been different post covid. I know it sounds bad but during covid and beforehand vintage rare stuff popped up regularly I.e weekly. I would say post covid a lot of the old collectors have since passed away so the hunny holes are less. The bigger issue is when you find something it’s harder to get it for a price you can turn an adequate profit on given the gas to get it, time to repair or clean it and list it. I was at a flea market two weeks ago 600 vendors one beat up 3.5” Wilton bullet $250 and a nicer 4.5” for $450. That basically is retail after being cleaned up. I still find good stuff this week but it’s getting harder and harder and less buyers. I can’t get $1000 for carpenter benches anymore also.

Pretty darn good, Sonny. One closure (Lakewood on Rt 70, for condos!) last year. But Columbus, Collingwood, and Lambertville are as packed and as vibrant as ever. It's a way of life up here that will never die. I haven't been to an estate sale in years. The house closeout guys just take everything to the fleas, so it's like a one-stop smorgasbord for pickers - and there are still A LOT of houses and garages up here with oldtimers passing away. If anything I have slowed down just due to real life stuff. Been out 33 times this year, which is really low for me, and haven't been skunked once. If you want to see for yourself, go to the Garage Sale thread I just linked, and search on "Lugz 2023_01", then, "Lugz 2023_02", and so forth through "Lugz 2023_33". You can eyeball every haul and judge for yourself! I started tagging my hauls like that a few years ago for easier finding. My tastes have gotten smaller and older and quirkier, mind you. I'm not generally going for popular brand stuff and I am leaving boxes and rollers behind. But I always include "LEFT-BEHIND" photos, too.

I'm jealous. It died here and I didn't realize how good I had it for so long. I can't even turn up a bent screwdriver now that they are dropping high density housing like carpet bombs.
