So I often have to (or choose to) make custom tools to complete a specific task, I see homemade stuff here from time to time and it always attracts interest so why not make a thread about it? What are some of the things you guys have made to get a job done or have a handy tool? Ill kick it off, I needed this for a hydraulic line, the size didn't seem to fit any crowsfoot I had so I made this, let's see yours!

Mine is much simpler. To change the fork seals on a motorcycle you need to remove the damper rod. To remove the damper rod you need an allen key about 2 feet long, because it's down at the bottom of the fork tube. Or, they make a tool that looks like a nut with a square hole that you can put an extension in. Or you can take a (for my bike) a 19 mm nut and file some corner into the hole.

What did you use for the drive end? Is that a socket cut in half or did you machine that?

I actually thought about doing a nicer one and machining a smaller peice, but this was just a quick job, I used an impact socket, that's just the base.

I hear ya. I found a comfort grip 12" Pittsburgh adjustable on top of an air handler at work a few months back and was surprised how nice it actually was. A lot nicer than some other cheaper adjustables I've used like Husky and what not.

Yea, they are definitely a step up from the chrome ones they sell, I want to say the 8 inch one they have is even nicer and maybe even Taiwan made, I remember pulling one out of the pack and fondling it a little and was surprised at the quality.

The orange pry bar I put a cut chain link on to pull trailer door operator springs over to set tension, its nearly impossible to do by hand by yourself, I added another hook in the middle a week ago for getting a better angle in different trailers, this is a tsc special that's yet to break
The chrome bars are for putting turns to increase the tension in the operators by turning one end of the spring that's free and one end is fastened
The big cylinder of metal is a 5th wheel bushing pin that I use to buck rivets with

(I notice you can't see the chrome bars from this angle, will be fixed tomorrow [emoji23])

Was an idea I stole from a John Deere mechanic I know. Took an old 1/2" breaker bar, weld 2 half 3/8" chain links on it for a cheater bar for wrenches. I've also used it on another breaker bar and even a pair of vice grips before.

Works really well. I have one that was a busted Craftsman breaker bar in my shop box and an old USA Utica breaker bar in my truck box. I've considered making a smaller version out of a 3/8" breaker bar.

I have a bar like that. It really should have a couple flat washers tacked on the bolts but its a very occasional deal.

By all means do. It really is handy. Just look for a good old used breaker bar for cheap.

Il probably make one as well but rather than an old breaker bar a piece of flat stock or pipe would do the same

This is a slug wrench adapter I'm making so you can putt 1" drive sockets on a slug wrench, I used an anvil from an old impact wrench, these are super usefully because you can get to many bolts you couldn't normally and can also putt hex bit sockets on it.

This is good! Gives me an excuse to buy a slugging wrench.

Also potentially quite a bit cheaper than the 3/4" or 1" drive Wright slugging wrenches made for sockets

Yea I have a snap on one just like those wright sluggers, picked it up for 20 bucks almost untouched, wright wants 400+ which just isn't worth it to me because it's fairly easy to make, I'm making this one so I can putt a stubby or extra long slug wrench on it for different situations, but I also made an extension for my snap on so the wrench is essentially twice as long when I want it to be

Here's a tool I made for a counter sunk pipe plug, the hold they are sunk in is to close to them for an impact socket, and I don't own an 8 point that will fit it...yet, so I made this puppy and voila!

Clever idea to use the square broach from a socket to make that crowfoot adjustable.
