Can someone please point me to 3/8" Drive Weighted impact sockets? I know I can just use an adapter, 3/8 " to 1/2 ", and use 1/2 " drive weighted sockets, but then I loose power with the adapter. So I would really like to find some 3/8 " ones. I'm not able to find any. There's also an alternative socket design that some sort of external ring around the socket, by Ingersoll Rand, that do the same thing, but they are 1/2 " drive. I think they call them "power sockets" or something like that.

WEighted sockets or sockets with the ring around them, are able to generate more torque on an impact. I would like to find some 3/8 " drive ones.

I have never seen them in 3/8 drive. I think the assumption is that you'll go up to 1/2" at that point. Afterall, most 1/2 drive impact sets get down well into 3/8 drive territory.

The draw to the weighted sockets for 1/2 drive, in my opinion, is most people doing everyday automotive work have and can accommodate 1/2 drive tools easily but 3/4 drive not so much. Not sure I've ever seen a Honda or VW dealership with 1/2 air hoses and 3/8 fittings, as an example.

Curious what others have to say.

All of my weighted sockets are 1/2” drive.

You have a 3/8” impact wrench, but not a 1/2” impact wrench?

So the idea of a weighted socket is to get more than you can get out of a 1/2" unweighted socket.

Presumption being that if you need more out of a 3/8" socket you'll just use a more powerful 1/2" impact and regular socket.

Also, adapters lose torque, kind of defeating the purpose.

I do have a 1/2 " drive impact. I like my 3/8 " drive impact because overall low profile of the tool, and overall socket length being less than 1/2 " options. Allowing me greater access in tight spaces. So I was just wondering if 3/8 " weighted sockets exist for tight clearance situations, were you need 3/8 " drive over 1/2 " drive, but appears not.
