Weil McLain NG Conversion

Just bought a new scratch & dent Weil McLain LP Boiler. Got a great deal on it, less than half price of a new one. It's a LP unit, and I have to convert to NG. I see Weil McLain once offered a conversion kit, but can't find one online at all. I believe I just need to change nozzles in burners, and change spring in gas valve. The module indicates LP also, but I think it will work for NG also. Can this be done, and where to find new nozzles?

if the manufacturer doesn't offer a conversion kit you're sort of on your own. you may invalidate any approvals it has on it .
natural gas orifices are larger than propane so they can be drilled out to the proper size. there are conversion charts found online . one such here https://ssl.ca/wp-content/themes/sinclair-supply/pdf/Gas-Orifice-Capacity-Chart.pdf you'll probably need a number sized drill .
as far as the spring in the gas valve, you may be able to trace that down by the manufacturer & number of the valve.

It might help to post a model number.

Look up the manuafacturer's data on the gas valve. Some are adjustable, others use a manufacturer designed spring kit. If adjustable, you will need to have a "water column" manometer so you can adjust the regulator in the gas valve to the needed gas pressure for natural gas.

You can drill out the existing burner nozzles to 2 MM. It appears the gas valve is a Honeywell or white Rogers, you will need a NG regulator spring for that gas valve. Google the gas valve model and NG spring kit. The pilot will have a LPG orifice. You might be able to replace just the orifice in the pilot, or order a new assembly for NG.

Standing pilot or intermittent ignition?

Mine is a series 3. Not sure of differences. It's a Spark Ignited Pilot.

Btu input and number of burners? If boiler is 75k 3 burners drill size for 25k. Need the correct drill size and a pin vice. Buy at least two or three bits. Drill buy hand twist with your fingers be gentle.

I wonder why the replacement gas valve?
When I was doing HVAC, I would have drilled the nozzles for the burner, put a NG spring in the gas valve and a NG orifice in the pilot burner. The whole works would have set me back maybe $5.
