You could easily replace the coconut bowl. My guess is the coconut shredder was fitted to a regular bench grinder, so I guess they left the stone on the other side for balance, rotating mass & its just plain useful.

That thing looks scetchy af. I wouldn't stick my hand in there especially wearing a glove like in the video. Funny that there's a sticker warning not to stick your hand in there yet you need to to hold the coconut. So... did you buy it? :bounce:

The website even recommends wearing the glove for proper grip. I guess they have different safety standards in India.

if I’m going to pay $50 for a coconut shredder I want it to be a little brown woman who knows just enough English to get me a beer.

My first thought when I saw the top pic was a splash guard for a buffing/polishing wheel to keep the compound from flying all over the place. Wrong

That looks less safe than some of the home made log splitters I've seen on youtube.

Nah, it's just there to reduce blood splatter.

A tool Monty Python would be proud to own for every reason. It can be delivered to you by 2 African swallows. "your hands off" "no it's not, its just a scratch" "i've had worse"
For those of you who don't get it, this is a scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grinder.

Who does food prep in a formal dinning room? My wife would have a major fit if I did that in the dinning room. The vibration would do a number on the table top varnish.

Want some coconut shell in your shredded coconut? Extra fibre in the diet. ururgh. I wonder how many packages of nice clean shredded coconut I could get for the price of that grinder? Is "fresh coconut" that more flavorful than store bought? Here in the upper midwest, far from coconut trees, the stuff that comes on cookies and pies is already rather potent.

No way in hell would I stick my hand in that contraption! I left it there. I'll tell you where to get it.

$50 bucks buys me a lifetime supply of shredded coconut.

I wonder if the left wheel is to let you grind the lime with the coconut?

Left wheel is there so you can turn the spindle in reverse with the motor off when your right hand glove gets wound up on the coconut side. Only coocos & nuts would use that thing. :)

Ain't that the truth! I'm sure there's a better way to shred coconut than sticking your hand in spinning blades.
