Came across this weird brand of NM on a job a few weeks ago. I have never seen this brand before.

Apparently, whatever pigment or paint they used wasnt permanent as the black was wearing off the hot conductor...

Has anyone else seen this brand before??

label says "TYPE NM - PHELPS DODGE - PD - X - 12/2 - W/G - 600V (U/L)

Was it bleached out by the sun?

As I recall Phelps Dodge ran a giant copper mine somewhere in Arizona.

Phelps-Dodge is one of number of brands of NM cable that you don't see anymore.

Oh yeah I've seen Phelps Dodge before. They were big in the 70's based on what I've seen around here. They even had a version of blue/green NM.

A building constructed in 1968 has green Phelps-Dodge NM w/ the reduced size grounding conductors common then, NM was replaced w/ NM-B about 1985.
