Weird Epoxy Flooring Question

The house my wife and I bought a couple years ago has a small basement in it, which is rare for the SoCal area. The floor in there is pretty nasty looking. It's old TerraCotta flooring tiles that are really in rough shape. I don't really want to tear up all that tile to redo the floor since it's just going to be storage and maybe a bit of a workshop. Hopefully we'll just rebuild the whole house within four or five years, so I'm not really looking for a long-term solution.

So I'm wondering if I can just do epoxy over the TerraCotta just to brighten up the space. The floor is so dark and as I said, it's a basement with the only windows opening to a space under our deck.

Wolverine actually has a product that may be ideal, but I don't have much experience with it, and I could be waaaayyyy off base here, and with that warning let me venture off into an answer that could be 180 degrees wrong...

A lot of homes in our area (I'm in Hollywood) have terracotta roof tiles. You've probably noticed that after just a few years they pretty much all lose that great attractive deep lush red finish and molt into a funky pale abysmal PeptoBismol look. Wolverine has a coating that's formulated specifically to get those tiles looking new again and to to protect them so they keep that crimson character for decades.

Not sure how it will work on terracotta floor tiles, but with a BondTite 1101 or EnduraShield 2254 clear coat it may do the trick. So if you think your current terracotta look is worth trying to salvage I'll look into it and report back with either validation - or shame.

Any epoxy would bond to your tile as long as it is profiled. The question is if you are looking to just paint over it or resurface it and create a new pattern and or texture?

Tough to advise without pics but, an overlayment may be your answer. No need for removal, just skim coat the whole surface and create a new canvas to work on. Create any look you want.

Google "decorative concrete flooring" in your area and make some calls. It doesn't hurt to explore all options.

I'm not looking to repair the TerraCotta color really since it's too dark for that space and I'm not a fan of it even when new. I'll take some pics this weekend. I think I'd just want to make it a light color and leave it at that until the house gets rebuilt.
