Weird Feit LED shop light behavior

So I have some of those cheap Costco/Feit LED shop lights for 5-10 years ago. They replaced the 2 bare bulbs in porcelain fixture in octogon boxes. Replaced the fixture with octogon covers for duplex outlets and plugged the shop lights in. Best garage upgrade I have ever done.

Some times I use the wall switch, some times I leave the switch on and use the pulls chains. Last night, with the wall switch ON, I sut off one of them with the pull chain. Because it was now very dark, I noticed that one of the "tubes" was slightly glowing. Turning off the wall switch stopped the glowing !

Costco only sells them in pairs so it looks like I will have a spare !

I have some of the Sams club "Honeywell" (in name only) & one of them does the same thing shortly after its turned off. I assumed it was some sort of capacitance since it doesn't last very long. I shut all of them down via the wall switch, so shouldn't be current leakage.

Feit is one of the off breed brands of lighting that I always consider suspect.

Feit lights have always been terrible IMO.

If the driver doesn't burn out, they blink just enough to give me a headache or they do the ghosting thing.

I run almost all Feit Bulbs (100Watt and 60Watt + their old $20 4' LED lights) from Costco, don't have that issue... maybe the OP have some sort of house wiring issue and hookup issues? Like bonded neutral on sub panel... flipped connection on the link ?

Agreed...I have 48 of the older Costco/Feit shop light units from around 2016-2018 installed in two different garages, and I haven't had a failure yet. Lights at both locations are in continuous use for around six hours a day eight months out of the year. Perhaps Feit has more stringent quality control requirements for their Costco branded merchandise? From everything that I've experienced Costco is very choosy about the products it sells in its warehouses; you would think that if Feit was as bad as I am hearing, Costco would have dropped them years ago.

Then again, maybe I've just been lucky...

Once we relamped a church with 40' high ceiling. There were some base-up PAR 38 halogens right over the altar. 2 days after we installed them the base to bulb glue melted and the bulb dropped all that distance right in the middle of Sunday Mass about 2 feet from the Priest.
We replaced all of them with GE lamps.

our volunteer warehouse is all LED tube retrofitted florescent fixtures. they glow after shutting them off, but it doesn't last long.

I got their bulb and their WiFi switches all works good, although few bulb blew over the years either due to driver over heated or a piece of LED burned causing the whole bulb goes bad. Over all no issues

I have a lot more ge bulbs burned than Feit… those long slim ge bulbs

Here's the thing about Feit...
They're just a little company in the lighting industry. Because they aren't significant, they cant break into the professional sales channels of the industry. They're relegated to having to sell their products through 3rd or 4th tier channels, big box stores, or internet sellers. All of these channels are really low profit margin, so the vast majority of their sales dont generate much income. This means that they are forced to use the cheapest components and processes to bring their items to market, hence their chronic quality issues.
It also limits their ability to innovate new products, so they become a "me too" manufacturer.
All of that wouldn't be so bad, but Feit has done some really shady things in the past, probably due to the pressure of trying to stay relevant. They are probably the most often sued company in the industry, both by competitors and suppliers and by the US government. I suspect that they spend a significant amount on lawyers.
Lighting pros would never use Feit products in a project. That leaves DIY-ers and residential customers. Now, none of the above means that there aren't customers that have had good experiences with Feit. Some of them are on this thread, so that's a good thing for them. But, knowing what I know about them, I could never recommend them for anything.
All that being said...they just recently launched a very cool new smart light bulb that's unlike others on the market. It's on their website now, and although that it's really really expensive ($25), it might just be worth it....if it works as advertised. Maybe I'll buy one and do a review.

Anyone have good recommendations for something like a can light? I'm good with ordering online if I can get a professional grade product. The Feit cans I have the majority are okay but one or two keep acting up.

Not to continue the bash on them, as I've not bought any of their lights for about 10 years, but was disappointed, as they were less lumens per watt than any of the other bulbs. I didn't notice that until I replaced a couple of lights, so haven't bought any since then.

Are you reading and comparing from their specs or just from their good looks ?

Most Feit bulb are 2700k or 3000k something light range they appear warm light easier in the eyes than the ones in white light 6500k range…

so…. I prefer the 2700k ones

I don't recall which color bulbs I bought, I know once I put them in, they weren't as bright as the 60W ones I replaced. After I looked at the Lumens, they were 100 lumens less.

I never get the CRI Color temperature and Lumens of blubs... just buy what ever is comfortable to my eyes. Run almost all those 100Watt equivalent of the Feit Blubs in major areas like living room / dining room/ kitchen etc, and smaller wat like 60watt equivalent on closets or hallways. I know I like the Feit ones with CRI index of 90+ and color temperature of 2700 to 3500, the higher temp are good for shop and work bench but not home when I wanted to relax. lower temp ones are naturally have less lumen per watt than a say 6500K ones.

My wife brought home a few boxes of Feit bulbs from Costco that have a selectable color switch from 2700k to 6500k.
