It hasn't malfunctioned in a week. I have added a few cameras. I'm not worried about it at this point.
If it continues I'll do something.
It is a growing area unfortunately so it certainly could be RF interference from somewhere. It's also possible it could be a bat.

Not necessarily a coincidence, but if the battery was bad, even a momentary power spike or interruption of milliseconds would do it. I have used a continuous recording instantaneous voltmeter (think oscilloscope that continually records waveform), reveal unbelievable voltage spikes and drops, right from the utility company. Lights never flicker or blink (LED's might).

Which recording device do you use? We have an old dinosaur at work, kind of looking for something new.

Well then you wouldn't want one like I used. It was an old Amprobe paper chart recorder; LS-something, and it did the job, but was a bit of a PITA to set up and chart paper was always an issue. I also had Tektronix dual-trace scope, and that could be output to a computer, but then the size of it was cumbersome.

I sold the business many years ago, and most of the specialized test and programming equipment went with that sale. I kept some things, like a Tempo buried wire locator, Fluke DVM, wire length measuring instrument etc.

Today, I think I would buy a portable recording oscilloscope, or maybe an Arduino and some software to measure and record spikes, transients, and voltage sags, and send that data to a laptop.

There's a ton of useful equipment these days, and costs have come down on a lot of it.

A paper chart recorder! I guess our setup isn't that much of a dinosaur after all. We are using a product made sometime in the early 90s called Crakker made by Logic Beach.
