weird Proto ratchet handle,need help with this one

i just bought this ratchet ,a Proto 5249xl, from a local pawn and have never seen a handle like this.does anyone know if these came with a hard or soft grip handle? it doesnt look machined. if anyone has any ideas please share.i cant find anything that explains it.

I think it's unfinished, perhaps liberated from the factory before two bands of knurling were cut.

Those ratchet were not offered with any type of grip handle.

i didnt think so. its definitely unfinished.there are 2 small grooves that go all the way around. it is going to get a handle as soon as i find a good proto screwdriver to donate its handle.

The handle doesnt looked chromed. It looks like it was turned down to me.

I have two at work to compare on friday.im thinking it looks turned as well.i will measure it
to verify.
