Weird SO ratchet screwdriver question.

Where to store your driver bits?

  • Something else inside the compartment (no bits).

So I bought my first SO Ratchet driver, now what is your guys' opinion. Do you store your driver bits in the driver, or somewhere else? If you store them somewhere else, what do you store in your handle?

The bits are kinda ******* me off being in the handle...rattling around and such.

I can't stand the feel and sound of the bits bouncing around in the handle.

Ya know, the rattling around of the PH1, extra PH2 and PH3 bits (only those 3 bits) in my handle never bothered me . NEVER.

What DOES bother me is that the SO ratcheting screwdrivers with the soft grips use a bayonet fit cap instead of the true screw on cap like the hard handles.

If I had a nickle for every time that soft grip cap has come undone during tool use and dumped my bits in my lap I'd be a rich man.

Give and take I guess...

have got 2 of these one with screwdriver bits in the handle and one with Torxs bits. Handy to have the bits to hand.

Funny how different folks are bothered by different things. Rattle doesn't bother me at all and if I kept the bits elsewhere, I'd lose them. Do like the rag or piece of foam idea though.

No meth here. But the one at work is empty and the bits fill a mechanics time saver bit holder. The one in the truck has bits (hand picked) in the handle for easy access and storage.

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
I've used a SK bit screwdriver with 9" shank for over 20 years and always keep the bits in the handle, now that I've converted over to Snap On, same thing. When I first walk up on a call (industrial maintenance) I'm carrying my Snap On ratcheting screwdriver, Milwaukee 48-22-3069 6in1 combination pliers , Channellock 6WCB 6" wide capacity adjustable wrench, Knipex KNT87-01-125 5" Cobra pliers and a Fluke T5-600 electrical tester, if that doesn't handle it the Matco service cart of repair rolls out.
