Could be tool not a tool, just something that makes people ask why. For me it be a pair of socks, I have spilled water and stepped in a couple buckets a few times and save them for those occasions. You?

Not too weird, Q-Tips. I like using them for cleaning carburetors.

Easy. I keep fondue forks, always have since my days as a field electrician. Handy damn dandy.

Well that's not weird at all.

Yup, always had beer or a bottle of bourbon on the top of my toolbox when I'm between jobs and it's at home. Had that discussion with a former co-worker one night drinking beer in his garage, set a beer down on his service cart and realized that it was the first time in 10 years he'd been able to do such a thing since his boxes have always rolled from shop to shop.

Expired credit cards, I use them as plastic scrapers on delicate surfaces. I have some sample Formica chips for the same purpose.

Glass lenses from a stereoscopic projector. Disassembled the projector for parts, and kept the lenses. Not useful, yet.

In my car tool box, I carry a new, folded, still-in-the package shower curtain.

If I have to deal with a roadside repair, it gives me something to lay on. Or if i get unexpectedly dirty, I can toss it on the car seat to protect my white interior. $1.49 at Walmart.

A marijuana pipe I got for a Christmas present. I couldn't really think of anywhere else to put it, so it's in my tool box.

After reading these replies I don't feel so weird keeping a spare pair of glasses and Ibuprofen.

I knew the whiskey was not abnormal at all..

I think it is called a tip cleaner. It's a fold-up tool (much like a set of folding hex wrenches) that welders use. I don't weld anything but the tool sure works great for cleaning out the inside of the stainless steel probes on the medical instruments I service.

I have a wooden block - like the ones little kids play with, has letters on it. It showed up one day 30 years ago when I brought my new to me 1980 Mustang Cobra into the shop. Someone put it on the roof, but nobody ever admitted to doing it. I put it in my tool box and it's still there. That tool box is at home now, but that stupid block is STILL in it!
