Those are some strange specs.

"One phase output"

"On wheels"

"Factory-installed gas solenoids"

Let's see your review.

Fair enough, it comes with a warranty and the manufacture's service center for the region is who I bought it from, so risk wise it was something I was willing to bite on. Keep an eye on the review thread for updates.

Too much money and risk on that welder in my opinion.

Too much risk maybe, but where's a cheaper 250a welder with local service?

I would probably go with the new Eastwood, it's getting good reviews and accepts 120v input and it's portable. 60% duty cycle vs 40%. It's $900 regular price though.

I will stick with my 252 though

You know the answer to that...there isn't!!!

What parts and service is available ? I'm not talking about a replacement gun or tips, I'm wondering about drive parts, electric boards, etc. What about actual people who work on the machine and can help trouble shoot?

Speaking from experience I can call Lincoln or Miller and speak with a tech that knows the machine inside and out. Is that kind of service available ?

I can't count how many times guys at work, friends, acquaintances, have asked for advice then turned right around and bought the cheapest piece of Chinese **** only to be disappointed with how it welds, lack of knowledgeable service, or obtaining parts. A quality welder is without a doubt a piece of equipment that you should not cheap out on.

What I posted is just my opinion...a welder with over twenty five years experience.

I completely agree, which is why I suggested the Eastwood is a better value. But I don't know of a cheaper 250a welder so that's why I asked :)

The shop i bought from is the shop the miller and lincoln techs call when they can't figure stuff out, they can do a complete tear down and rebuild of everything top to bottom. Which answers your question, yes the level of service you would expect for a miller/lincoln, is available. They've been around a couple of decades longer than folks on this board have been welding, they are a very trustworthy shop , and is part of the reason why I went with them. I appreciate your thoughts and I don't want to sound like an ***, but chill out a little, I'm not telling anyone to buy this, just that the opportunity is there.

The eastwood machine is actually a very good comparison, they may even be built by the same folks.

I took the risk on buying one and you guys can follow my review thread. I needed a machine with a good duty cycle and did not have the time for a miller/lincoln 250amp that I could afford to pop up (I have yet to see one in my area come up for sale at a price I could swallow), so I bit the bullet, I fully realize what this could turn out to be and if it does go south I'll lick my wounds, won't complain and get some good use out of my syncrowave 300, not everyone has the cash to drop a couple thousand on the high end welders.

Chill out from what? This is a garage forum where we discuss things about equipment and tools and try to help each other out.
