Several years ago I made this welder cart out of a HF U.S. General 26" box. I made a new "frame" for it that has mounts for 10" wheels on back, and 5" casters on front, and holds 2 gas bottles. After that, I kind of got stuck with not knowing how I wanted to finish the front part. On the cart, I will have my Everlast MTS275, WC300 water cooler, and a cheapo 50 amp plasma cutter. Shown in the pics below, I have my Omnipro220 sitting on top ( its painted black now). I would like for it to be on the cart as well, but I'm not sure. Here are some pics.

I don't have any pics of the frame before I mounted the box, but here are some CAD images. It mounts to the caster mounts on the box, and I drilled 3 holes in the side to fasten the gas bottle bracket to.

I recently got a bug up my @ss (and because im bored) and decided to finish it. But, I don't know what to do with it. I am having a hard time thinking what to do. Most of the ideas I have had, I talked myself out of. What say you? What would you do?

TIG rods storage rack

Cable management hangers/hooks, instead of draping them over the cylinders.

Hanger 'tree' for your PPE, like the welding jacket and some gloves and the helmet.

Upgraded rear wheels, looks like those are plastic hub units. I generally prefer metal hubs instead of plastic for more durability.

Upgraded front casters with brakes.

Trim or resize your rear axles so that they don't stick out past the wheel width.

What have you found yourself wanting or wishing for or pondering for your welder cart?

Nice cart btw. 👍

TIG rods storage rack- On the list

Cable management hangers/hooks, instead of draping them over the cylinders.- On the list. I have made myself a couple of the helmet hooks( slips over the neck of the gas bottle) I do want to make actual cord/lead hooks.

What have I been wanting..? I like the setup now. I haven't been happy with the front of the cart. Right now, my water cooler just sits on the frame above the front casters. I haven't thought of a way to make it more finished. A simple idea would make a shelf and sit the WC on it, and done. I was looking for something more creative. Kind of cool way to do it.

I do plan on adding (3) 240 receptacles on the cart, having 1 main power cord. I will never use all machines at once( it's just me in the shop). That way I don't have to unplug machines. Also, going to add air hook up for plasma.

I like the idea of multiple outlets, but only use one. Maybe you use your cart much more than I do. It’s not a big deal to switch Plugs. I made tig filler canisters on mine and hooks to hold the gun, cables, and my hood. I sewed up a cover as well. This keeps things pretty clean in a dirty shop.

The only welding related item I struggle to store is helmets(yes, wayyy too many). I hate hanging them by the head gear as I've had it deform them in the past and they are ALWAYS setting somewhere in the way.

And this afternoon a coworker dropped off some items for me......yet another brand new Huntsman 951P. Do I need it, no. Can I find it a home, yeah.

I like the idea of multiple plugs and an extension cord as well. That's a great idea. I have trouble with my OmniPro because the cord is short and the leads are short. Would be nice to be able to wheel my cart to within the 6' lead length and anywhere in the shop with a longer cord. Plus my old Miller stick welder cord is in dire need of replacement.
