Almost done building my welding cart for my new everlast welder. Have a xpr tank of 95/5 and also picked up a spool gun so made it fit 2 tanks to mount one of argon as well.

It’s heavy a phuck with the 2 tanks. Was also thinking when I buy a tig I’ll make a shelf underneath to hold it. Should o remove the dual tank mounts and make it for 1 tank and just swap them? The tanks have to weigh at least 150lbs. Or should I swap the rear air filled tires for hard tires?

Looks stout! I really like the tank holders. Much better than the standard chain pulled up tight against the stand.
Hopefully you have lots of floor space, it looks to be a decent size.

I would consider lopping off the stubs of pipe behind the tanks, you WILL trip over them eventually.

I would leave the dual tank set up on it and just change the hard tires. Looks good so far

Thanks maybe that’s what I will do.

Ya I’ve got the semi circle on the bottom for the tanks to **** into as well. I might put one straight bar across the back to hold them in. Was also think of using like a toggle clamp setup like for fire extinguishers. But the tanks are so large and i don’t weld a massive amount so don’t need to change them out quick.

Ya I will cut the pipe off probably flush with tank. I just left them long for ease of building.

Was also thinking of adding like a post with a hook like a coat rack for the welding helmet.

Looks pretty solid, I would keep the dual tanks, add a chain (which I'm sure you are planning on), and cut the ends behind the tanks off and weld in a little cross bar.

And solid tires, I would not want that thing flipping over when a tube starts leaking.

Oh, and maybe put a little tray in the bottom to hold clamps and magnets and whatnot.

Ya once the tire squatted a bit I thought about that lol hate to have 1 leak and then tip. Thought I was doing so good using the pressure washer axle and tires I’ve pack ratted for the last 5 years.

I thought they looked familiar. I have the same tires on my PW and I have to fill them up every two weeks but it's a lot lower, not so top heavy, and doesn't have 2 missiles attached to it lol.

Would this be something that would work? Or would a larger steel hub with a thin wrap of rubber be better? Hopefully can find something with 3/4” bore and keep the axle I welded on

I have those: https://www.princessauto.com/en/detail/8-x-2-in-solid-rubber-wheel-assembly/A-p2020091e
they are rated at 250 each instead of 175 like the one you posted.

they are great. I don't have dual bottle, but I have a 110 migpak, and longevity tig/rod machine, a 2 drawer tool chest , grinder and a bunch of abrasive on it.

I don'T see any weight issue with those wheel...the shaft is just as important ;)

Nice project.. I need to get busy on a revision to mine.. I have a Metal Man cart/cabinet, but need to adapt it to a larger cart to incorporate a welding table and add my stick welder to it.

biggest problem I had with my carts are wheels, need big wheels on back, good side wheels on front and a good handle to manipulate. instead you be fighting that sucker over every cord, rock, piece of metal

Lol ya I hear ya. The front casters I bought seem nice. Got set of horns on front to grab so just need some good rear wheels. Not sure what else I should add before it gets painted.

Nice cart.
Why 95/5 gas?

Just what the welder I get the tanks from uses. I’d prob get nicer welds with 75/25 but I get the gas cheap enough it does the job. Those 15cu meter tanks cost me $145 cad so 115 ish usd. No contract.

Looks good[emoji106]. Another vote for hard tires. Here's a pic of one of my carts for inspiration of tank clamps.

Understood. Guess I will roll out my 95/5 and see how it works in short arc.

I’m just taught by practice no guidance so maybe I’m doing something wrong lol or maybe using 95/5 lends tonspray arc? I dunno. I can make some pretty decent welds when I try hard enough.

Love that cart. Little more work than I’m putting out lol

Where did you get the tank lock. That’s what I’m looking for.

Thanks. I "rework" LPG tank clamps used on forklifts, manlifts etc.

Looks like you've got the same mig welder I recently bought. Here's the cart I just finished for mine: https://photos.app.goo.gl/MPGFFpjkEP1DEzfC3

I left room on the bottom for a future tig machine. For now, the little AHP can hang out down there.

Ya I’ll prob add a flat piece on the bottom for a tray and still have room to make another shelf for when I decide to get a tig.

Thanks I’ll order one up

To the OP, not exactly sure of the situation but my opinion of 95/5 in short arc(all a 110 v machine can do) is it’s ****. 100 % CO2 would be better/smoother.
Most likely the shop you’re getting gas from is doing heavy weldments and in spray transfer, right tool for the job.
Not judging just an observation:).

Agree it’s not ideal. But unless I get a contract somewhere which is expensive up here, I’m kinda stuck. The large tank prob lasts me 2 years. He told me it was 95/5. It’s blueshield 6 gas. I can’t see any markings on the tank for percentages. Would blueshield 6 be a fixed mixture? Internet says 90/10? I can short arc with my mig. But not enough experience to know what to do to accomplish either. I can get pretty good penetration when I want. It can be difficult to do vertical welding an lighter material sometimes and very hard to weld the underside of anything. But I can do it.
