I bought a Tweco 211i very recently but I don't like the soft start feature for mig, It's very hard to get a nice hot full pen weld even on heated material for the first 1/2". Plus a couple other things I don't care for. Like the mig gun itself, size, construction...

So I put it for sale, I'm thinking about picking up a Miller 211 as I don't have any tig projects and mainly plan to weld sheetmetal and 3/16" on my jeep. I'd also like an AC/DC tig aswell... not strictly DC. I'm confident in quality of the arc of the millers. Everyone wanted to use the Millers in welding school over the Lincolns.

The Lincoln Power mig 210 would be another option but it seems that the 211 would be a better long term investment.

Needs: Mig, around $1,500 or under. What do you think?

I think you will be happy with the MM211. I have one and love it. I keep .024 wire in it for small stuff, and I use .030 in my MM252. I do not use the 252 a lot, but it is there if I need it.There is nothing that I can say bad about the 211.

The Miller 211 is a top quality unit for sure.

For AC/DC tig you're talking either an old large transformer unit or dropping some serious dough for an inverter unit, unless you care to chance going with one of the lower priced Chinese units (Such as an Everlast)

I have the Miller140 and I love it, the Millermatic 212 or Hobart Ironman 230 will be replacing it ASAP once I move into a more fab friendly environment though.
