ive been wanting a 220v MIG welder for a while, but cant come to terms with dropping $600-$800 on a machine I'll use a couple weekends a year.

found a Lincoln Weld-Pak 175 on CL. seller claims its never been plugged in. he got it as a gift, and never did anything with it,a nd its been on a shelf just sitting.

assuming its in top shape, is $400 a good price on this machine?

any reason to pay more for a newer model?

$400 is a good price for that unit.
It will surprise you, what it is capable of.
Make sure you get the gas regulator that came with it.

I picked it up today.

had all the accesories (except the original box), manual, a fixed auto-darkening low end welding helmet (lincoln brand though), new pair of welding gloves, and a couple small spools of wire.

and the zip-tie is still through the plug, so its NEVER been used. and I talked him down $50 ;)

now to wire up a 220v outlet :D
