Welder Gage Wire

I' wanting to run about 20 feet of wiring to my
stick welder (220). What gage wire can I get by with?

Need more details. Without knowing what the specs on the welder are no way to give a wire size.

what is the make and model of the welder?

Single phase? Amp draw from label on machine? Model and mfg of machine?

The internet has a chart somewhere I can look up.

A 220V 'stick welder' might only need a 20 amp circuit.

Or it might need a 100 amp circuit. And the correct wire to go with it.

So, the answer to your original question is "It depends."

It depends on the make and model and the required wiring specs for that make and model of welder.

Which usually can be found if you RTFM.

It's an old Emerson Made around 1960. I had it in my
shop for years small distance from my 100 amp box
hooked to a 60 amp breaker. Now that I am moving
it further from box just thought I needed something
bigger than 10 gage.

A bit further doesn't mean much, a lot does. You adding 50 ft or more?

a 60 amp breaker would require #6 copper wire. #10 is only good for 30 amps...
