I just installed a pony panel in my workshop.

I installed a NEMA 6-50 Outlet in a 4x4 box with a raco 810c cover (circle size2.141)

Also

I installed a NEMA 6-30 outlet in a 4x4 box with a raco 810c cover (circle size 2.141)

Does anyone know of a dustproof or weatherproof cover that can fit a 4x4 box and have an inner circle for the outlet of 2.141 inches. Or atleast some kind of rubber cover that I can stick of the outlet part that sticks out.

I would like to have my child in my workshop and not have to worry.

Thanks,

Thanks pattenp.

Not a bad solution the only problem is a 4x4 box used for conduit pipe is not the same as a 2 gang box.

But I do like the cover idea. I will check Bell website and see if they sell 4x4 covers.

I will report back if I find some from Bell.

Thanks,

I checked Bell's website they are part of the Hubbell, raco, bell. Bell only produces two gang box covers and not 4x4 box covers.

I will have to keep looking for a solution

Can you just buy a plug and shove it in the hole when you're not using it? I don't think any kid young enough to worry about would be strong enough to pull it out.

I like this too. Plus you'll have a extra male plug.
A flip up cover will give them something to play with and when they see the exposed slots they just gotta find something to stick in there.

Maybe install HIGH above their reach ??

mobius1982 the box cover pattenp referred you to should be the correct cover for what you want to do. This cover is made to screw directly to a 4 square box as well. You would need to remove your Raco 810c cover and install the flip lid cover in its place. In order to mount directly to your 4x4 box, you would also have to drill out the holes in the drill spots provided (dimples) on the mounting cover plate before assembly.

I was checking out the Leviton wetguard covers but they will only fit on weathtite pvc conduit boxes not 4x4 metal boxes. The spare plug idea is nice but one more thing to lose. Those bell covers are pretty nice except I live in Canada and they don't retail bell products on homedepot.ca or amazon.ca.

Any other product suggestions would be great. I am going to go check out if cooper wiring has any similar type products.

I found a cover by sigma electric its model 14321 which seems to fit the bill it will fit outlets from 20 to 50 amps and fits on a 4x4 box. Like the Bell cover you knock out the screw holes you need and comes with a gasket.

Just need to find a Canadian supplier for either Sigma or Bell.
