I just bought one of these about a week ago. Been working double shifts, so I really haven't got any time on it yet. I gotta say that the ability to go from 115-230 and back effortlessly is a real treat. All you do is switch power cords- very cool.
The promotion gives you the choice between $100 back, or a kit bag of goodies- Duffel bag, auto mask, jacket, gloves, etc. Chose the goodie bag, waiting for arrival.
One thing that ticked me off right away (and a warning to anyone in my position)- I had been using a Weld-Pak 100 up until now- I have a tons of tips, nozzles, diffusers and spare parts for the Magnum 100L gun. Turns out this machine ships with the "new" 100 Pro. Here's the PITA- The "new" gun features different threads on the tube, diffuser, and tips. You cannot use the classic tips, nozzles, or diffusers on the new gun- something that forced me to immediately order up some 0.030" tips, to my annoyance.
I had a conversation with a fella at my LWS, and he said there was no difference between the two guns (new and old) as far as ampacity goes. Even the part numbers are all the same, up to the tube. The only hurdle I had is that the new machine uses a round, twist-lock connector for the trigger, whereas the old used spade terminals.
Being waaay to much of a cheapskate to flush the toilet on a NIB 100L and a whole whack of goodies to fit it, I cut the wires about 2" off the twist-lock connector on the new gun, and re-connected using spade terminals. Now I can install the 100L and use my existing consumables by leaving the twist-lock connected to the machine, and connecting the "old" gun to the spade terminals. I can put up a pic or two if need be.
I'm hoping that this little heads-up spares someone else the aggravation I faced. FWIW, I THINK some of the newer 100L guns ship with a twist-lock connector, and will attach to this machine with zero effort, also allowing you to use the more common (and no doubt cheaper) 100L consumables.
