Welding and Epoxy floors

I'd like to put down some sort of epoxy coating on my New Shop floor,What might be best suited in an area that will see some amount of welding cutting etc? or are they all prone to failure?

I had looked into doing the pro stuff.. Wolverine I think? and the guy on here that sells it said I would have to put down blankets, etc to protect the floor. Protecting the stuff I put down to protect the concrete just seemed retarded to me!

I figured for the cost of the stuff, was no reason to mess with it then. I used the stuff from Lowe's. Quick Crete I believe makes it.

I put it down about a year ago, ran me about $300 to do 3 coats of color and 3 coats of clear on my ~625sq/ft garage. I haven't welded anything directly on the ground as I may have with bare concrete (put a piece of wood or steel down instead), but with welding stuff at the bench and under cars I haven't noticed any damage. The only thing that sort of melted the floor a bit was I was torch cutting one day and a cherry red washer fell on the floor. Just left a mark is all.

There are coatings that are "weld proof," but they're a bit pricey.

Our EnduraShield clear coat is pretty robust The slag usually bounces of without leaving a mark, if it’s a large piece, or real close to the floor, it will hit and at most it leaves a small brown spot. One way to minimze the effect is to just "pre-mask" the welding area by using a medium to heavy broadcast of chips in a few colors – like black, white, brown or gray. Then weld splatter spots that do happen aren't that noticeable.

An additional layer of clear coat also works well.
