Welding area flooring

What do you guys suggest for an area that will be welded in? I don't weld often, but occasionally I weld or use the torch. Is there any flooring - epoxy, etc. that will hold up and not be ruined by molten slag or spatter?

I think a good polish and maybe a sealer are all you can do. Not a lot of coverings will hold up to that kind of abuse. I was trying to figure that out as well. So far, I've come up with nothing.

You may be surprised, but flat cardboard (not corrugated) is OK. Cheap, easy to come by, quick disposal. The cardboard takes a little while to burn through and the slag etc. usually cools enough before then. Flat cardboard does not flame easily on the floor and can be stopped easily if it begins. Flammability hazard is not that high because you would not be welding in a dangerous area anyway.

My epoxy floor held up fine. Didn't do anything special to protect it. Did a LOT of welding too. Maybe a spot here and there - depends on how pristene you want to keep it I suppose.

Put plenty of dark flake in the system and the burns will blend in with the floor.
Naturally, you could pick-up some gauge metal and put it down or better yet, gauge metal over a piece of plywood.

I do floors and have never coated the welding area due to blemishes, only when the entire shop gets coated.

Put plenty of dark flake in the system and the burns will blend in with the floor.
Naturally, you could pick-up some gauge metal and put it down or better yet, gauge metal over a piece of plywood.

They don't show that much, and I hate flakes.
