Welding Cart Finish Opinions

Plan was a polished metal with clear coat on the handle then maybe a Lincoln red on everything else. Didn't want the standard black or gray. I got the handle ready for clear and prepped the rest for primer since I didn't have the paint.

Then I got the idea to go Rat Rod on the finish and just clear everything. The tubes have clear already (just one coat and it's a little hazy cuz I wet sanded for the next coat in the photo below) but not the flats. I also hit the tubes with a heat gun to make the rust "pop". LOL

Dumb idea or looks good (or at least different)?

Rhino line the top surfaces to give a nice grippy coat to keep stuff from sliding around, then clear the rest.

It's a welding cart so I didn't want to be careful around it to avoid scratching a nicely painted finish.
