I need a set of gauges for my mig welder using C25 gas. Right now I have a broken gauge setup but I've seen people use a flow meter style? Which one should I be purchasing? Also any suggestions on a setup for under $100.

I do welder maintenance and the welders at work have the regulators and gauges but the welders on the piping drops uses flow meters they are on 45 psi. where the bottles have a lot higher psi and that is why they are on the
regulators. If you can use a regulator on the tank and put the flow meter on after it that works ok . that is how I got mine at work put its a big welder with a wire feeder on it.

I prefer gauges only. The flow meter seems to make me go thru the gas faster. Plus not having it is one less connection to leak.

I'm not a TIG welder, son I don't know f the meter is a benifit for that type of welding.

Just to clear up a bit, they are both regulators, both designed to regulate and measure the flow of the shielding gas, just two different design principals.

For most mig work a flowgauge (two round dials) is more than adequate. A tip is to set it with the trigger depressed in the "flow" position, that way you are reading dynamic pressure vs just static pressure of the gas.

As for a recommendation on a particular unit. You can get any of the big names for right under $100. Smith, Victor, Harris are all good lifetime units with care.
