Is there a good HEAVY pair of welder's gloves out there?
The HF and big box stores have such thin padding that they seem worse than useless . Have a pair my father got me from the foundry he worked at, but I have yet to see any with the same quality .
Any good p00p out there?

TIA
Jorge

Tillman. Black Stallion. Both good. I really don't like thick welding gloves though unless I'm doing some pretty heavy stick work. For everything else I've been going to thinner gloves to give me better feel and dexterity. I have a pair of Tillman pigskin MIG gloves now that I wear for just about everything under 150 amps.

TAKE CARE OF THEM

i hate it when i see guys picking up hot steel with new-ish gloves or shielding their welds with them

For a quality glove, you really need to go to a Welding supply. The HF gloves ****. And yes, I'd go with Tillman or the Black Stallion. The pigskin gloves are great for the lighter stuff, I use the Tillman 32's or Onyx gloves.

Costco has some yellow leather work gloves, sold in set of 3 pairs, really really good quality.

Sad part is , I use them mostly for cooking ! Will do on the Tillmans It's great to be able to pick up a pizza stone at 550 degrees and slide a pie off :) My neighbor refers to them as "volcano gloves"

dont use these links to buy because you can only order them by the case but i wanted to show you the two that i have had the best luck with

the latter of the options (elk hide lowers, leather upper) i love to death and i will buy pair after pair (theres another kind that has knuckle guards on them and they are elk upper and lower.....those make me weep with delight) anyways those gloves are incredible at keeping you comfortable and also have more than plenty of dexterity, i can tig weld and thumb feed my filler rod with them, thats how amazing they are

if you have a farm and fleet around you go check them out they carry a good line of welder gloves

I second everything above. My tig gloves have always been tilman, I like them and they hold up well. I always buy the kidskin for tig. I use a pair of black stallion gloves the other day. Looked like tig gloves but were way to thick for tig. Definitely high quality though.

As a side note, I have my original pair of Lincoln Electric stick welding gloves from lowes. Served me just fine.

Simply put, dont grab hot **** if you don't need to. They last much longer like that...

I have absolutley no idea what mine are. No tags. I've been using them for over 20 years and they are still going strong. They do look like the same construction as my Revco jacket, but who knows?

Makes me feel a LOT better about the local AirGas store. I bought a Miller 211 last week and asked the guy for his opinion on the best glove for the money. He handed me some Tillman mig gloves. I liked the feel of them and (so far) they seem to be a very good glove.

Pretty much every single person on the team has done that at least once. I tell everybody "If its on the table there's a good chance its still hot". Most everything since september has been 4130, but starting around january its going to be 50/50 with Aluminum. Stainless is bad for that as well, although I usually tell people just bring your hand close to it an see if its hot. At the end of the day, you touched it, so its your fault.
