I'm looking for a decent welding/grinding protecting screen for my garage. I am considering the ones from Uline. they are priced right at $100 with frame and curtain. does anyone have any experience with these or any suggestions on a good one around this price? I need it for controlling where sparks are flying but also to protect people that walk by seeing as how I weld with the door open often. thanks in advance.

It is a good idea to knock sparks and dust down. Nothing wrong with stopping light either although don't get too worked up about it. No one will be injured walking past. Keep it in perspective.

I often weld in the driveway. I use two of those for spark/flash protection for passerby and to help block the breeze from blowing my shielding gas away.. I have the Tillman screens and frames. They work really well.

I did have of the the frames break off when I got a gust of wind. Ironically, the weld broke. It was an easy fix.

except when the neighbor kid likes to poke his head around the garage and watch me while I'm welding. :eyecrazy:

Made me laugh. Reminds me of the phrase, "Blinder than a welder's dog."

My dogs are not in the shop while welding. Still, they can't find a treat that is 2 inches in front of their noses.... they would survive about 5 minutes in the wild.

I picked up a 6x8 at princess auto up here...was fairly cheap, frame and screens are separate so you can replace the screen when it has too many burn holes in it. I imagine Harbor Freight would have them too.

went ahead and picked up a tillman one for vision protection and another from airgas for grinding. may return the second frame and just spring clamp the grinding curtain over the transparent welding curtain depending on the job.
