Anyone make there own glare blocker for a welding helmet? I'm looking for pics to get ideas from. I was thinking of cutting up some FR material and adding snaps or velcro around the back of the helmet to attach to. Maybe copy the hood from a hoodie sweater for the shape.

Got this a few years back, if you are going to make one. It does attach with velcro. notice the size of it.

For best results you will want it to be shoulder length, and covering the sides

A great upgrade.

Pepi I'll ask, do you have any issues with fogging the lens with that cover?
Pauliski I made the front (with some help from Mom) neck cover, I used chrome snaps to attach the rubberized canvas, mine was made for UV protection though not glare this material would be a sweat house for your uses. Harry

I do not, not a full head dress, open in front, chin down. Back side glare is a PIA for sure

You could always buy a pancake hood :D
In all seriousness though, I might have my girlfriend make something out of my old FR coveralls. The very small amount of outdoor welding I do I know the sun can be a pain.

Not only the sun, overhead LED and florescent shop light reflection is a real pia to work around.

Hey Pepi - Where were you able to find the one you have? That looks nicer than anything I will be able to make! When I googled it, I could only find them in Austrila, no where in the US seems to carry them

''Anyone used one of these? For $17 it might be worth a try.''

I haven't but have bought from Baker's Gas. They have free shipping with $50.00 purchase. Sign up for their email. I was lucky enough to get $15.00 off first purchase. A friend got it After his first purchase.
Their prices are pretty good for gloves and hats. They even carry large and xlarge.

I use a lightweight hooded shirt to pull over my hood. I have a extra extra large hard hat helmet liner thats works too.

That is the place, it was 5 -6 years ago, I emailed them and someone here in the US contacted me.

I looked at the site when I posted the picture, but was unable to see it listed.

Maybe they are out of stock and get them back. Take a screen shot of the picture and send them an email..

If unable to do that PM me I'll send a jpeg you could could use.
