I had harbor freight welding cart for a while and it was time to upgrade since I upgrade my new welders.

Here is the basic design to hold 2 bottles at the end. One 24' of 2x2 1/8" thick square tubing was used. Everything else is scrap that I had laying around including wheels. $80 plus tax for tubing.

the machines on the old cart

base plates made for wheel casters

added the plates on top, spaced to add clamps for welding

tig welded top base plates

Going to add a future attachment to hold the chop saw at table level after I get some more tubing:thumbup:

Your machines and regulators are going to get buried in slag and grinding debris with that setup. I'd build a separate cart and work table if I were you.

I like the cart you made, it looks really nice! Great job! But if you are going to be welding on the top of the cart then I have to agree with "MagKarl".

I suggest adding a sheet metal shield below the top and above the tools. I would slope it away from the operator so sparks deflect that way.

Keep designing and building things. It's fun, practical and you get much better at it.

I have been down this road. My garage is 14x20 and packed with tools and a car. I built a weld cart w/ the welders under it. Filled the machines with dust and had to blow them out a lot. Not worth the space savings. Besides, the storage space under the weld table is a great spot for material storage. Nice table.

Thanks for input guys. The table is mainly for tig welding. The table is in front of my lift so im still able to reach exhaust using the mig gun. It is a small on car garage thats why i went this route. I also have another welding table i weld on

This is round two...with no welding tools on same table you weld/grind on...metal plate to protect everything below...and it slides out to periodically clean.

Nice cart build, I have been wanting to build a new cart for my torch set. The bottles now set side by side like most carts. I want them to set in front of each other. so that I could put them into a narrower space...

Thanks...Megamanny.

Got most of the ideas for the table right here on GJ. Basically I finally spent the money to do a layout/fab table after building a couple out of square items....

This thread shows the start of someone doing what I did...then they will see what the upgrades they would like for their needs...and like me will customize their next table.

I posted the photo hoping it may give the original poster some helpful ideas...mostly to protect his welding machines...
