Very nice! I dig the 1/2 slot, 1/2 solid table. I could definitely go for a slick table like that!

Interesting solution on the grinder storage. Looks like a great use of space and very innovative, but seems like a hassle to remove them. I have an idea...feel free to dismiss if you are not interested or like what you have ;). Similar to your solution, but instead of using the threaded knob, install an undersized non-threaded stud/rod with a magnet against the tab. the stud would support the weight and the magnet would secure it. then you could easily pop the grinders on/off without fiddling with the threaded knobs.

Do you mind me asking what brand/grit of stripping disc you used to remove the mill scale. I usually purchase P&O steel so I don't have to contend with mill scale but my welding table also still has the mill scale on it and I would like to remove it. The couple of discs that I have tried, I have been less than impressed with.

Thanks.

Mike.

The best discs that I found are sold at Canadian Tire here but I'm sure there is something similar there.

This is the best one, along with the same style in black that Canadian Tire sells: http://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/maximum-strip-it-abrasive-flex-disc-4-1-2-in-0541823p.html

Next best I found was the Harbor Freight one, but the only ones I could find were 4" and the arbor size isn't correct for my grinder. I was able to make it work but didn't last as long as the ones above: http://www.harborfreight.com/4-1-2-half-inch-nylon-abrasive-wheel-94017.html

Whatever brand you try, DO NOT buy the two in the pic below. The red one plugged up almost instantly (and it was double the price of the ones above) and the black one from Fastenal lasted all of 3 minutes and only did a 4"x4" area before being worn down to nothing.

Not a bad idea at all, I'll keep it in mind and give it a shot if I get tired of using it the way I have. Thanks!

Very nice job!! Among countless thoughts on how to hang your grinders, have you considered screwing in a bolt that's too long to bottom out in the threaded handle hole and then having a keyhole slot in the fixed hanger? That could work pretty well depending on how often you switch sides on the handle.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

Just thought I'd update after using the table for a few months. I haven't come across anything yet that I wish I had done differently, it seems to be working as I had planned.

I'm happy with the levelling adjusters, and glad I made them as long as I did because I have one end cranked about out about 3/4" so the table sits perfectly level.

I made a mount for my bead roller and one for my shrinker/stretcher that I picked up this week. I've since used the aerosol bedliner to match the table and both fit well under the table top where I welded in the two receivers for storage. The shrinker/stretcher handles fit inside the tube when it's put away but I haven't come up with anything for the bead roller handle yet.
