how much over hang should i leave around the table top to the support? its a 4'x4'x1/2" top i wana leave room to clamp to the edge but not so much over hang that it might bend over time. thanks.
I have 3 sides hanging over about 4", it is too short at times. Having 1 side flush is nice, i use that side for when I really need to pound something.
My welding table has roughly a 4 inch overhang. It does help keep from bending the edge. I do have slots in the table to aid in clamping out in space. The slots use standard t-slot clamp down kits for a milling machine. So the clamping options are endless. Not to mention I can fixture and go vertical on the table if needed.
FYI, if you want to make your own table like this the slots are CNC Laser Cut.
