A simple question regarding MIG torches, MIG spoolguns, TIG torches, etc.

How interchangeable are they? Not MIG to TIG, but using a Lincoln TIG torch on a Miller machine, or a Tweco torch on an ESAB, etc? :willy_nil

Or is this one of those ******** proprietary areas? :headscrat

Each machine manufacturer uses a different power pin, which is the brass piece on the end of the gun that plugs into the welder. On some guns you can change the power pin but others you can't.

Depends on the machine and the torch.

Sometimes the 'torch' is the same and just the connectors to the machine change (via 'adapters').

Sometimes the connectors are 'hard wired' as part of the torch/cable assembly.

Sometimes the 'same' torch can be had from different companies (sometimes with the same part number, and sometimes with different part numbers).

There. Clear as mud now?
