Doing some fabrication this weekend using my new Milwaukee 6190-20 dry Cutoff saw :)

Going to make a stair railing out of square/rectangle tubing

What gauge do you guys think?

Let us know what you think of that saw. My older Millwaukee is about dead and I have toyed with upgrading to that unit. I am just not sure if it likes to deal with larger stock or not.

I built a railing for a loft about 2 years back. I used pipe though not square tube. I built it for a person that was helping out that wasnt exactly sure footed and they are no longer there. However I notice that everyone that goes up the steps puts there hand on it so it was well worth it!

Square tube may be lighter, my pipe version was heavy but simple its just bolted to the wall and the pipe was already in the shop.

The blades are expensive, and go dull easily. I've got a Milwaukee, and it sits in the corner.
When it works well, it cuts nicely, but its not worth spending all that money on blades.
Go look for a good horizontal bandsaw. Just my .02

The standard cutoff saw is unlike the carbide toothed one. The one with the carbide blade spins MUCH slower.

I used sched 40 in 1.5" for the upper railing, 1" for the middle bars and 1.5"x0.5" bar stock for the uprights. Turned out well I think.

Ha. Usually don't bother blowing the leaves off the decks in the back yard. That was right in the fall when tons of leaves started coming down.
