Weldon chuck, drill press questions

So a few years back I aquired some annular cutters with weldon shanks. I recently got the itch to try em out but have nothing other than a drill press with a standard 1/2 chuck. Anyone know where I can get a weldon chuck, with a #2 Morse taper on the other end. I have found a couple while googling, but they never had an online order, only showed distributors that were nowhere close to me.

Also to you guys that have used these, will a drill press be fine? What other stuff should I look out for? I got em for free and never even seen them used, but have heard they are the cats ***. Any education on these will be greatly appreciated.

Are they all the same size shank? If so, an MT2-??" end mill holder might do the trick.

I use them all the time in my mag drill, but I have yet to adapt them to anything else. I am planing on getting an adapter to run in my mill. Let us know how you make out, if they have too much run out, my guess would be you could break them. The other thing is I am not sure if it will be tough to get the center slug out after cutting, you may have to remove the bit. The mag drills have a center alignment tool that is to help remove the slug once the hole is cut.

Depends on a couple factors. Shank size of the cutters and the taper of your drill press spindle.

If it is a Morse taper, then one of these might work.

Annular cutters are cool, but they require some spindle rigidity to properly work. What kind of drill press do you have?

Yes thats exactly what I was looking for! I may have just been overlooking them or maybe getting too wordy in my searches. I will order one up and report back on results and if it is indeed workable.

Stouty, is the center alignment tool like a pilot bit type deal, like in hole saw kits? I believe thats what mine have with them, but I am not 100% sure. Been a long time since I have even opened the case up.
