I had made some 24"x18" reducers for another project and had laid them out, all the way to a point.
I was thinking to use them for some gate post finials for our middle daughters new fence.
But talking to her, she was bellyaching about the well casing in the front yard being unsightly, so we decided to make a cover for the well, instead.

Found a 12"x10" flanged reducing spool in the bone pile, for the body of the cover.
Also, thought it would be good to put their name and house number on it.
Cut some stencils to check the look and layout.

As always bud that’s way cool. But I can’t help look at it and not think which would be even cooler, a pawn or a rocket. Not critiquing but you’re right in the middle. :)

As usual, an awesome creation!!! Looks like a ton of work to cut out all of the letters and numbers with aviation snips!!

Kind of reminds me of the house in Barcelona with mushrooms for vents on the roof. Each one is coated with broken ceramic dishes so they all look different.

It's was not too bad, other than it was right at the edge of thickness that can be cut with snips.

Here is a couple made for a friend, that was pretty labor intensive.
Hand flame cut with brazed faces.

Thanks

Glad others want to do a cover. I've been thinking about something like this. Just need to cutout the bottom of the milk pail. Mine is right next to the house, it's a bedroom addition.

I need to do landscaping anyways. If it's in the middle of the front yard you could incorporate
some landscaping.

Soooo is the well cover gonna become an ICBM tribute build now?? :pimpflash

Thanks LXC,
I scalloped the bottom edge of the cap, thinking it will make it less rocket like.
I don't know if it worked or not!

As usual, beautiful work on the lettering. That's some seriously stout fencing in the background. Likewise for the gate. Are they your work as well?

Thanks MCM,
Yes, I fabricated 3 gates and a couple hundred feet of corral in Fairbanks and shipped it to Montana on a free back haul.
Then went down and helped him install it all.
Super fun project for a great guy.

Got the letters and numbers fastened down and slopped some oil on it all.
Sent a pic to the recipient and she digs it, that's a good thing!

With the help of the son in law, got the cover set this week end.
It looks nice to my eye and they love it.

Snagged some scrap at work (with the bosses blessing). Figured I turn the pieces inside out though.
