Well, Its started........UPDATED!

Hi all,
I am finally getting to start my garage project. It is going to be a 26x36x9 with a 10x36x7 loft. I am going to be doing all the work myself(with family) with the exception of the concrete and the brick on the front. I am having the same brick done on the front of the garage that is on the house a 16x8 door that matches. I went with the same 12/8 pitch roof that is on the garage of my house also. I have a big mess right now so dont pay any attention to the yard as my house was just finished before christmas and we are still finishing the excavation. I have to have the foundation inspected again now that its poured and then my lumber should be getting here by the end of next week, so it will be a little while before I get anymore pics up...

Bigboar that's not fair. You are suppose to work out of the small garage for about 15 to 20 years first.:lol_hitti you have a good start.

Thanks, my wife and i bought the 5 acres about 3 years ago and finally got to build our dream. I hope to connect the drive at some point in the near future... but have to save up the more money first..I am trying not to go into debt doing the project and am trading out where i can.. I run a collision shop and repaired a vehicle for the excavation. I also repaired a vehicle that my bricklayers son hit for the brickwork going on the front... This garage is going to be more for me and my sons motorcycles and play toys more than anything. The big tube in the floor is for an air operated in ground motorcycle lift....

BigBoar....I know how you feel....I'm about 2/3's done on mine....smaller than yours but I do have a full second floor.....Like you, had someone else do the foundation....and I did the rest....

In all truth...building your own garage is the ultimate big boys erector set....while it's a lot of work....it's also a lot of fun.

BTW....nice house....what part of the country?

Thanks DDawg,
Yeah, I think its going to be more fun building it than anything...My main goal is to get the building up. I will worry about the electric, insulation, drywall etc....one at a time as funds allow. I am located in southwestern Ohio. Cincinnati area...

I have made some progress since my last post. I now have the walls up and the trusses are going up saturday hopefully. It is hard to tell how goo of a loft space I am gonna end up with by looking at the trusses....

I got alot more accomplished this weekend. and have also started on a side project for the garage. I bought a bunch of steelcase cabinets which are made for office cubicles and I am modifying them to use in the garage when its done. They will be painted black once I am finished welding the ounting brackets to the rear of them.
