Well pump: Swing or Spring check valve?

I am moving my well pump equipment into a new building that I am finishing. It currently has a very old 1-1/4" spring check valve downstream of the pump. Since I am redoing everything I plan to install a new check valve, I just took delivery of a 1-1/4" swing check valve. After looking at it I am concerned that it will allow water to backflow down into the 170' deep well. It is simply a brass flapper that is pressed against a brass seat with back pressure when the pump is not operating. There is no gasket or other seal.

I am curious what others use in their well setups, and if you've had issues with swing valve allowing water to flow backwards through them? Thanks.

Swing will be fine. Your pump will most likely have a check valve in it too, the auxiliary check valve just takes some of the load off the built in one.
