I have been looking for a decent band saw. I found a barely used wellsaw 58bd 1.5 hours away. Looks like they $4000+ new. opinions on this saw and what do you think a fair price would be? I was hoping to get something decent for 600-800. i know ill be over that number but may still consider.

I had one about 24 years ago.... I got it when my 1016 was in storage and I didn't have use of a band saw. I seem to remember paying about $200 for it off e-bay. It was a little rough and I ran it for a little bit before I "Upgraded" it
Think it had a 3/4 or maybe a 1hp motor on it. I put a new 1.5hp motor on it because the stock motor was beat ( it didn't need more power;_) Then I picked up a conversion kit from Wellsaw to run a 3/4" band on it. I really liked it and the other 2 Wellsaw's I have, they are great machines. I sold it to a buddy for what I had into it and he has been running it for the last 20+ years... If you want to know any thing else about it let me know. and good luck with the purchase.
