The SO box isn`t bad, but for that much you could get and older Master Series box. It depends on what you want it for. If it was for home OK, work, I`d get a stronger KRL box.

If you like that style, look for a kra 4000 series. Thats the el cheapo 2000 series. The basic box is the same, but crappy casters and slides. Still better than a crapsman, but its the value line for SO. I agree with the other posters, you can find a older krl master series for about the same price. I bet that box was bought with a student discount and he is turning a profit even at that price.

Jayson, I'm in Benton county, 25 miles west of Cedar Rapids.

Okay, so the black snap on is low on the snap on totem pole. Good to know, I'll past it up. And I really thought that Matco was a very good deal. But hey, either way I don't need anything that huge.

I'm not actually looking for a box to hold more tools per se. I have a HF roller cabinet and top chest for the bulk of my tools and it's fine for that. An older craftsman chest for the half random clump of spare tools, an old gerstner for machine tools. I need a stout cabinet about 36-40" high, 36-40" wide, 18-22" deep with 6-8 shallow, heavy weight capacity drawers for hardware to fit between the second work bench and some shelving. It will be for uts, locknuts, washer, bolts, nails, screws, bits, clamps, wire, yada yada. And serve double duty as a bench for a drill press and bench grinder to free up space on the other two benches. My dream for that little cube of space is a Lista, but that might just have to stay a pipe dream. Any ideas for a good, stout hardware cabinet like that?

Around here (southern, On, Canada) there are very few good deals on used boxes. The 26" home owner boxes are sometimes more than new, often a very beat up bottom 26" goes for $100 or more, when you can get a new one on sale for $150 or $200. The huge boxes techs use often have asking prices of 2/3 of new. About the only good deal I ever got was a used Proto 26" top box for $30. Very strong, not much rust, but a little bit up, works great to take to the track.

So I have the 40" Snappy box that is shown above and like it a lot. That being said I didn't pay anywhere near $900 for it. I think it would be a very nice box for the spot you are describing. It may need to have several dividers or compartments built for it with the full width drawers.

That is kinda wild. I went to Hiawatha elementary and lived next to the fire house. Then we moved to Marion, where I graduated from.

Even wilder, I own 3 K5s too. I went to Linnmar for elementary and then 6th grade in Hiawatha. Then I moved to Colorado
