Just got back from the Building Department, and I received my permit without any problems at all. All of my drawings were approved, and I even received a compliment that I had the drawings all in a folder.:rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker:

Now all I have to do is get in touch with my concrete guy, and tell him to get his equipment down here and get to digging.

I will be starting a thread in the Gallery documenting the process from start to finish, and the name of the addition will be "THE ADDITION". Plain and to the point. I am stoked!!!!! After a whole year of the other contractors dicking me around, I can finally get started. BTW.....Contractor #4 stopped again today, and he is still trying to get my business even though I told him I had someone. Plus he told me that he would have some figures for me this weekend. I think he forgot that he already gave me a price $20,000 higher than what he originally estimated. But now he is going to have some new prices that will blow my mind. He only lives 1/4 mile down the road and drives by every day, so he will **** when he sees that 'hoe and Bobcat sitting here to dig dirt.:thumbup::thumbup:

Great news, Kev. Looks like things have finally turned a corner on this for ya!

Can't think of a better title :dunno: And the pressure to come up with a better title would be overwhelming. We are laying out for the additions in the morning, and footers will be dug Thursday weather permitting. I figure that "The Addition" is about like Charles Bronson in "The Mechanic" :lol_hitti

Congrats. I know you were sweating the approval process. And it turned out to be no big deal. Strange how that happens. End of my build. Will county pass it this way and that way.???? Son of b never looked at any of the stuff I sweated about. He said looks good and moved on.

Make sure to ask why the hell the new estimate is so much lower than the last one-if you get another from him before the work starts.

Kevin: How about KEVIN'S ADDITION??

congrats on approval and just make sure to get inspections signed off before moving forward so you won't have to undo or redo anything. some inspectors are a pain and others make your day worth living. i'm hoping you get the latter and a contractor that does it job.

Best of luck - now you can wait for everyone to show up and work. There will be days that no one will be there and you will wonder what the heck is going on. And you will have days when so much progress happens that will blow your mind.

I just built a house and there was an entire week, not one person showed up on the site. I had to threaten the builder that if the house wasn't done by December 13th, he could call my wife and explain to her how to tell all the guests that were invited to Christmas dinner that the house wasn't ready. All of a sudden, a flurry of activity and were handed the keys on December 13th...

The concrete guy put me off for a month and the story was I'm a week out, I'm a week out, and so on. Well after waiting 6 weeks, his crews showed up last Tuesday at 2:00pm to start work. I have 60+ yards of concrete driveway, pad, patio, and sidewalks that need to be formed, poured, and some of it stamped. By Thursday (same week) at noon, they were done, gone and finished except for cutting the expansion joints. How in the world they did that much work in less than 2 eight our shifts was amazing.

So - good luck and keep your blood pressure down by not sweating the small stuff.

Looking forward to the pics.

Not to highjack the thread but, ME TOO. I got the call from the village hall hung up the phone and called diggers' hotline, hung up the phone and called the excavator, and then my old buddy that does concrete. Hoping to have the floor poured in 2 weeks.

Congrats man. Nothing better than to get that call. My concrete guy is planning on having the footers dug Friday, then inspection on Monday, then pour the footers later that day. IF things go right. I just had to give him my truck to drive home as his wouldn't start after he brought the skidloader down. Not too good of a way to start out.:lol:

Homebuilt....get your camera ready so you can get some pics posted up. :thumbup:

WOW, that's great Kev. Even after you told them it was going to be an ICBM launch site they were still okay with it. Well no turning back now. Really,congrats,as said earlier, you deserve some good news. Remember pics or it didn't happen.
