After two years of faithful service I use way too much manual torque 80ft lbs+ if I had to guess and snap. I was going to wait for the fuel 1/2" to come out but I use this tool so much I can't wait..

Will they warrantee this or is it considered abuse?

I have no idea if they will warranty it but it sounds like you consider it abuse.

Yup, I got greedy and found the limits of the tool. This will be one area where the new 1/2" version should be much stronger. This should not sway anyone away from this tool..

I use mine that way too but not professionally and probably not up to 80 lb-ft.

I always love to see a tool that was used hard to get a lot of work done.

I would say contact Milwaukee and see if they will fix it for you.

I can't see why they wouldn't fix it. Their cost to repair things can't be that bad, they probably don't have that high of a warranty rate and besides the red tools are selling really well. Fixing it for you will only make you want to buy something else from them.

Send it off via Eservice, you don't have much to lose. If they determine they won't warranty it they'll contact you w the cost for repairs. I don't recall if you pay return shipping if you say "just send it back" but I bet it's laid out in detail on their site. They'll also just scrap it for you if you elect no repair and don't want it back.

According to their website should be a 5 year warranty. That said, there are a few exceptions but time doesn't appear to be one in this case.

https://www.milwaukeetool.com/support/milwaukee-warranty/portable-power-tool

"Every MILWAUKEE power tool* (see exceptions below) is warranted to the original purchaser only to be free from defects in material and workmanship. Subject to certain exceptions, MILWAUKEE will repair or replace any part on an electric power tool which, after examination, is determined by MILWAUKEE to be defective in material or workmanship for a period of five (5) years** after the date of purchase unless otherwise noted.

Normal Wear: Many power tools need periodic parts replacement and service to achieve best performance. This warranty does not cover repair when normal use has exhausted the life of a part including, but not limited to, chucks, brushes, cords, saw shoes, blade clamps, o-rings, seals, bumpers, driver blades, pistons, strikers, lifters, and bumper cover washers.

*This warranty does not cover Air Nailers & Staplers; Airless Paint Sprayer; Cordless Battery Packs; Gasoline Driven Portable Power Generators; Hand Tools; Hoist – Electric, Lever & Hand Chain; M12™ Heated Gear; Reconditioned Product; and Test & Measurement Products. There are separate and distinct warranties available for these products."

Either way, it looks like it has earned you money! I've worn out several tools that were worth rebuying. Also, I've foolishly switched brands and disliked the new tool until it died AND THEN replaced it with what I had before.

It ***** that the new 1/2" is not already out. However, even if you have to replace the head without warranty coverage Milwaukee parts are not exorbitantly expensive. So get it fixed then when you get the 1/2" you can go full gorilla.

If they wont warranty it, its a fairly easy fix.
Mine had the same failure. This seems to be the weak link.
The part that breaks is referred to as the "crankshaft". It was less than $10.
Its part 17 in the diagram below.
Part 16 is not sold seperately, so hopefully it was not lost when it broke.

Special Note: The housing screws require a tamperproof T9 torx.

Almost guarantee they will replace it, they offer amazing Eservice. If not, nice to know you can easily and cheaply fix it. Thats a tool worth owning.

Wow, metal does look funny. I used my air ratchet like crazy and cranked on it like crazy and it never broke in like 25 years of service. Does seem like a weak spot.

Oh yeah and note your serial # 'cause sometimes it's hard to tell if they didn't just send you an entirely new tool. Not that it matters, just curiosity
