Wen 8" Bench Grinder with Stand $79.99 Woot

I'm not really familiar with WEN tools. I know this is a China built grinder, but what grinders aren't these days.

$79.99 seems like a decent deal, even when Woot's owner, Amazon, lists the same thing for $105 for this slow speed grinder. A stand by itself is another $35, so the price seems good.

Curious if this is a decent deal or not for an 8" grinder. I like my Craftsman 6", but there are times when a bit more oomph might be nice. I'm curious why it runs at a slower speed (1750 rpm vs more common 3,000 rpm). What advantage is there to the slower speed?

Convince me to buy or not buy this, but act fast, this is a one day deal only.

Stand isn't available anymore? Well then it's not really such a good deal then.

I went ahead and placed the order just for giggles and didn't get any notice of the stand being sold out. Guess we'll find out. If they are out of the stand after was placed, then there will have to be some sort of partial refund otherwise it becomes bait and switch.

I wouldn't bet my life on it but I believe that is just the title of this particular deal and the specific item is listed below with the model number. In the drop down list the stand is still listed but grayed out and not selectable.

I do not believe you will receive a stand unless you were able to add the 4288-Stand to your cart while they were still available.

We'll certainly find out. When I saw this last night, the stand was shown greyed out since you could not purchase it separate of a grinder, and that was at 10:03 PM. I doubt they sold out of the stands in 3 minutes, but it's Woot, so who knows.

If I don't receive it, then I'll have some Words with Woot. It's labeled on my receipt and all communications as the 8" grinder with stand. Failure to provide the stand as advertised can lead to some serious problems.

Frankly, even without the stand it looks to be a decent setup, so I'm happy enough.

Hmmm, the way you describe this makes me reconsider. Perhaps the grayed out stand is just there to show it is added to the orders of the two grinders? Maybe the stand could never be ordered separately? If you do get the stand then this is a real WOOT deal. Definitely let us know.

The stand is a separate purchase, I think it was $39 but sold out now. The email notice I rec'd last night showed two models of grinder and the stand, they were never a package deal. The stand was a separate offer not included with either grinder, or that is how my email read. There was no photo or description of the stand. No telling whether it was worth it, but a non-issue now. This a.m. I considered the stand for my Metabo, but without photo I wasn't gonna risk even $39.
