I found myself needing an 11mm flare nut wrench today, so I ran to Sears to grab one so I could finish up my project today. Well, I get to Sears, and start looking at their selection, and low and behold, not one flare nut wrench was made in the USA. To top that off, they were wanting $20 a piece for a Chinese wrench. I decided that the project could wait, and went online and found a brand new Armstong set for $8 on fleabay. Is it just me, or do you guys think that $20 for a Chinese casting is ridiculous?

If Chinese was my only option i would buy a complete set a HF for half of what Sears is asking for just one wrench.

Im losing faith in craftsman. after seeing all of the china ratchets on the shelf, as well as china ratcheting wrenches.... i fear for the day i break my USA craftsman tools. Ill definitely be upgrading to Snap-on. I dont want China in my toolbox when it comes to chrome tools.

My Sears doesn't even carry flare nut wrenches, and it's supposedly a "full line" store. Those $8 ones look pretty rough for Armstrong.

Are we talking full polish, those ahave been chicom for a while. This would be breaking news if the rb wrenches are chicom now, although who didn't see it coming.

yea, stuff is starting to go downhill real fast. I wanted to get a few stubby wrenches to compleate my set that I just got. They want almost 15 a piece for the big sizes 13/16-1" which is outragious for a china made piece of garbage. I can almost get snapon individuals for that price. Sears needs to do a few things.
1. stop exporting half decent tools.
2. stop asking snap on prices for tools that arent even 1/4 the quality.
3. hire better staff? lol this one is a joke but i had my favorite mr. grouchy yesterday that always talks down at me at sears.

But yes its a shame. Im almost about to give up on them they have a few things but outside of sockets, some wrenches, and little odds and ends (picks, mirrors ect) thats the only craftsman I will buy, everything else has slipped so far in terms of quality and the price keeps going up its not worth it. :(

Thanks

I've broke a few, but there was only one time when a Craftsman tool catastrophically failed under my own power. I snapped a breaker bar while working under a truck I used to own. I've got a nice Indiana Jones scar from it, but fortunately its on the bottom side of my chin.

I went tonight with 3 broken tools.
1/2" Breaker Bar ...ball detent gone

3/8" QR Ratchet 44815 D-AA

3/8" Ratchet KAA 44811

I recieved USA except for 44811.
But I don't like the selector feel as it is sloppy and plactic to boot!

20.00 is too much for a flare nut wrench made in China. But then again I'm the type that'll do without before giving 20.00 even for a whole set of anything from China.

You know what sicken me the other day? I paid my brother a visit and he was upset. I asked him what was up and he walked over to his Snap-On box and pulled out a drawer. He then pulled a Snap-On compression leak down test kit out of the drawer and opened it. He pointed to where it said '' assembled in Mexico ''.
