Hey Everybody :)

I just made a video going over the Wera Joker Wrenches. They are ratcheting wrenches with a very unique open end that has a 12-pt opening with a retention plate built in that will act at a standard 6-pt opening. The plate also will retain nuts/bolts when they are rotated slightly, so you can hold them in place while securing them.

The COO is the Czech Rep, and like all Wera tools they are designed in Germany. They have a satin finish and the Wera logo incorporated into the grip.

The other thing to note is that there is no angle or offset with either the open or boxed end. So, this may be a deal breaker for some people & others it may make them a lot more useable.

Great review! I have the smaller metric set and have found them to be quite nice. The 12 point open end has actually come in handy for me a couple of times as did the retaining plate. Sure a conventional combination wrench would have done the job eventually but this wrench did it with less aggravation. While they're not for everyone, I like them enough to finish out the set.

I'm always skeptical of people trying to reinvent the wheel, but these actually look like an improvement. Between Wera and Knipex, they're really rethinking some mainstay tools and actually innovating.

When you spun the wrench around on the threaded rod you blew my mind, man.

How does that little plate do with grabbing fasteners compared to, say, Wrightgrips or Snap On flank drive wrenches?

Thanks! The retaining plate worked a lot better than I expected it to....I figured it would hang up when trying to remove the wrench, but it did not have any issues.

Thanks! I have those coming up in January.....I really like the finish on them....Tekton has really made some quality wrenches with these newly designed versions.

I agree! Its nice to see some innovations that arent just gimmicks like dogbone wrenches..haha

No problem! I havent seen those Toptul wrenches, but the open end does look similar --- minus that retention plate.

That retention plate really does work by not allowing the nut to slip through!

The wrench was able to spin and not fall off because I inserted it over the nut where it would not slip through the open end & would rest on the backing plate....but it is very effective!

As far as the plate, I was able to shear the head off of a 10mm bolt (bolt head size) with it & the wrench did not slip or have any damage. The bolt was one it took off of one of the Hondas I had parted out, so automotive grade.

Those speed wrenches are worthless and thats why they're on Ebay for next to nothing. Woodstocks video speaks for itself, you have obviously never used a Wera tool, otherwise you would know they are legit.

Not sure about the retaining plate on the open end but, it's a quality Wera made product with a high degree of attention to detail in both the wrenches and wrench roll. Was that a regular Tekton open wrench in the comparison shots?

You need to work on your wardrobe though. I mean wearing a Beta hat and a Tekton shirt distracts from the wrenches. Generic brandless stuff from now on :lol:

that is exactly what i wish they did with it, woulda bought a set a while ago. i never liked flat with no offset wrenches.. switch and offset on the box end is the best it gets.

IMO these are becoming too infomercial like. Not that much of a review, and this one was overly repetitive. Stuart's style I think is more informative.

Awesome looking wrenches, only downfall I saw was not having a ratchetting open ended side which are very useful as well.

The washer should be with the nut under the table for that vise. ( just joking, but the wood is damaged under there )

So it is a basic flip-to-reverse ratchet wrench with an ergonomic handle and a modified open end. And in my world those mods would be useful too. The nut holding capability is useful.

My suggestion, based on my current fave ratchet wrenches, would be to offer a flex-flip version. I use that flex feature a lot in my work that would make one wrench set that would cover my needs.

I would consider buying them as they are also.

Definitely a decent review, just really expensive for what you get. Most times a person can make regular wrenches work, need one of these for brake pots in 15/16 for threading locking not down the push rod, but i finally use my vise grips and do what was demonstrated in the video - I can see how the 12 point open end would come in handy though for low swing situations, just 200 dollars to be a little quicker when what we have already works ... they look like good quality, oh yeah, and holding a nut in the wrench to be threaded from above is also handy, but a good ol' piece of tape works wonders for this.

I know the open end does not have an offset but does the box end have an offset of let say the usual 15 degrees or is it flat? Do you ever do a comparison between products? If so I would like to see a comparison of the swing arc on the box end to the Facom 467 wrench for example including dimensions of box end and open end as far as being able to get into tight areas.

I got a set of those when they first came out. The 11 PC metric set, ran me like 320 bucks but they are super nice and my fav ratcheting wrenches. Only wish they were offset reversible. Flawless stain chrome, almost too nice to actually use. I feel gulity if I end up having to use them on a "dirty" job... Is that normal? Lol

Nice video and presentation. I too would like to see it compare to a fd+ or wrightgrip. If they're are equally good, that would make them even more attractive.
...For certain sizes that is, they're really expensive..

The 12pt feature of the open end makes it double 15degree offset in a sense. 15 to the right, 0 off the center and 15 to the left without ever flipping the wrench. To get the same with a standard open end the need to flip for the two 15 degrees is all you get.
The 0 degree option probably wouldn't be missed much. They exist and have some but its not like they are vital anytime I've ever worked.

last i checked making things "a little bit easier" was the whole reason we have thousands wrapped up in our tool boxes and garages.
