Found this neat piece at an estate sale today on my way back from Lowe's Compressor #1.

Looks like maybe it was a sales sample, so you could feel the old standard handle and then the Kraftform?

Picked it up just for the interest of the board. Enjoy!

Hack saw, torch, and grinder. Make a two piece pick set. One with a straight point (awl) and one at 45 degrees.

I've figured it out! There must have been a sideshow at the World Arm Wrestling Championships in Petaluma! This was for the Screwdriver Twist-Off, sponsored by Wera, apparently.

Yes, the handles are not identical. Probably used for handicapping between weight classes.

Before the fall of the Berlin Wall, Wera used to make some with thicker handles for secret export to the East German women's shot put team.

This side event faded in popularity after Wera pulled their sponsorship funding, and Great Neck tried to fill their shoes. Crowds really don't thrill to handles just twisting off the shaft.

This kind of competition actually dates back to antiquity, when commoners were forced to do combat in the Coliseum, trying to twist a wooden dowel out of their opponent's hand while they slapped each other about the face and ears with an early, unfurled USAG strap wrench in their free hands.
