Awesome place. Seeing all these gorgeous places, especially yours and erod's (think thats his screen name?) makes me wish I would be able to buy a house where I want too (Pa) so I could start building. But, still have about 10 years before I am moving back to Pa for good.

We've been working our butts off. The house portion is now done. I'll take some pics tomorrow and post them if anyone's interested in the home layout.

Wow. What a beautiful place! Can't wait to see more interior shots. The silo really is quite the original idea!

Your places always have some humor injected into them. I like that. The painted cabinet doors are really neat, too.

I guess I never did post these pics after the asphalt went in.

Stunning!! I Love it!!! The silo, the underground garage.. Super jealous of the look and design of it. I've always wanted to find an old barn and redo it, but yours is an inspiration! Any pics of the living space or layout? Now I know what I want if we were ever build new.

I've got a few pics of the living space in my files... I'll take more and post them as well.

This is the kitchen. We tried to keep a farmy theme going here as well. The cabinet doors are inset as in old construction , and the appliances are white. Heavy crown molding is a vintage touch as well as the bead-centerbead wainscot.

The two corner cabinets are not glass doors, but rather chicken wire (that barn thing again)

This is kind of an artsy shot of the ceiling on the upper (3rd) floor of the silo. Its actually the office and computer area.

What a great looking place, I love it! Thanks for sharing the finished shots.

Does the lower garage extend under the upper one, or just sort of beside it?

The lower garage does not extend under the main shop. I just get an uneasy feeling when cars are parked above my head. I know it could have been done, but I don't trust my engineering skills that far.
The lower garage is 36 feet deep however , so two cars can park in there nose to tail.

We've been also working on a pond down in the back. Here is a shot of the pump house with its 6 foot water wheel. It will be a functional overshot wheel.

Here's the 6 foot diameter water wheel. All cedar
There's snow on the ground, but as soon as it melts it's back to pond construction

Awesome work you guys!...any water problems with that low garage door by the silo.?

None yet, and it's been 6 years. There's a grate at the bottom that drains to a sump drain. The driveway other than the immediate ramp down drains to the back of the lot. We gave it a lot of thought, but I'm sure at some point things could go sideways and I'll be swamping out the lower garage.

I have a friend who took an old cattle barn and turned it into a B&B in Ohio. I spent some of the best time of my life in a barn. I've had my horse for 20 years and go to the barn every day. Some days, I cry because I have to leave. You leave your cares at the door, are mindful and present.

I stumbled upon this thread today. It is fantastic. Please keep adding pictures.
I am jealous of people that have the ideas and ability to accomplish those ideas. It appears to me that you have a short attention span. One long enough to finish a project. But short enough that you want to start a project completely different. From kids cars to merry-go round horses, then off to automobiles. FANTASTIC!

I'm gonna try to post a video of the completed pond in the back. I'm not sure how to do this so forgive me if the link does not work

Absolutely amazing Chaz. I remember you posting a picture of the outside in another thread and wondered if you had a build thread, guess so huh

The pump, water wheel and that ultra cool pond are a very nice touch. I'd luv to see more of any of it, shop, projects, it don't matter since every you're doing looks bad to the bone.

Here's the latest addition to this place... A piece of yard art. There's snow on the ground right now and everything is frozen, but come this spring this dragon skull will be the centerpiece of a flower garden by the property entrance.
Its all welded from 18 ga steel. I've been working on it off and on for over a year....

I've been working on the fence around the property. Here's a photo of what it looks like (this is the front section. -Working on the back now)

The current part will take 363 points,

And 165 "Hoops" (these are all bent by hand on a jig I made.)

Here's a pile of fence sections ready to go down back when the snow clears.

Wrought iron fences are a LOT of work, but require little or no maintenance, and they are really rewarding when completed

Very Nice fence! That's a labor of love putting all that up. It looks awesome!

It'll take one more side to completely enclose the 1.2 acres. Gives me something to do during those long winters.:p

It adds a touch of class to the whole project
